Starting Cultivation in Wasteland Chapter 115

But Qu Jianlei had no interest in replying, ending the fight with two bursts of shots.

Immediately after, he roughly cleaned up the battlefield, then withdrew and left.

The second wave of Black Wind’s reinforcements arrived twenty minutes later, with over thirty people in eight vehicles.

Though there were plenty of people, they were a patchwork of outsiders, mostly high-paid temporary hires.

Unfortunately, the attackers were long gone, leaving behind only two tracks—the bastard drove off in a truck!

The other two vehicles were blown up.

Chase or not? Of course, we have to chase! The key question is... how many people should be sent to chase?

Three strongmen immediately refused, even preferring to refund their received pay.

"Are you kidding? There’s definitely more than one person... who can load a snowmobile onto a truck alone?"

One of them had a hint of strange color in his eyes—he knew who could do such a thing.

And those kinds of people are used to using snowmobiles, but... how dare he speak out his guess?

Seeing that the strongmen had no interest in tracking, the Black Wind members had no choice but to grit their teeth, "Everyone else, chase!"

The peripheral members of Black Wind didn’t have the courage to refuse, so they reluctantly prepared.

After a while, the third wave of reinforcements, over fifty people, arrived.

This was even more makeshift, the vehicles were assorted and the equipment uneven, but they did bring five snow mastiffs.

With nearly ninety people, they finally mustered the courage and seventy were sent out to chase.

However, half a day later, bad news came, the pursuers followed the tracks, only to encounter an avalanche triggered by explosions at the foot of a mountain.

The pursuers fled for their lives, losing three vehicles and over ten people.

Worse, the tracks vanished, and there was no way to continue the chase.

Expanding the search area to find the tracks again was objectively possible... as long as it didn’t snow soon.

But the pursuers refused to press on—what if there were more ambushes?

Seeing the agitation in the group, the Black Wind leader dared not insist, or force them.

The key was, after these two battles, over seventy percent of Black Wind’s core members were dead, they had to keep a low profile from now on.

They dejectedly returned, puzzled over who their opponent really was...

Qu Jianlei had quite a haul in this battle, capturing a lot of guns, ammo, food, water, and fuel.

Especially the earlier squad, they intended an ambush, the mines were part of their gear.

The Laser Sniper Rifle too, since besides robbing, they also needed the capability to hunt Mutant Beasts.

Interestingly enough, they also carried over twelve hundred silver coins.

Not that they wanted to be transport leaders, but in case they encountered a strong team, they could also purchase Mutant Beasts.

Combined with the truck and seized snowmobile, Qu Jianlei really hit the jackpot this time.

He could sell off some of the guns, and find a place to sell the truck at a low price.

With the looted silver coins, he earned at least two thousand.

In addition, there were fuel, ammo, food, water, and Energy Blocks that he wouldn’t sell, but use to replenish his own consumption. Thɪs chapter is updated by Nov3lFɪre.ɴet

If all these were totaled, the haul was easily over five thousand—just the ammo alone was worth two thousand.

It took him about twenty days for this deal, but the income was certainly worth it.

"Killing and arson indeed improves fortunes," Qu Jianlei couldn’t help but sigh.

He felt tempted to continue this path; the money really came too easily.

However, his OCD stopped him—people should have some moral limits.

Taking only the moderate amount is okay; taking excessively is too much to handle... the analogy might not fit, but that’s the truth.

He’s always known how to restrain his desires: once certain habits become second nature, turning back is difficult.

He didn’t sell the snowmobile, though; its size isn’t large, and it could be stashed away in any Secret Camp with some adjustments.

In the future, should he learn about any tyrannies, he could continue redistributing wealth... to punish evil and reward virtue, correct?

Carefully covering the tracks, he drove the truck back near the Settlement.

He patiently waited two days until a strong wind arose, then drove to Secret Camp number three.

The gust of wind-driven snowflakes effectively hid the truck’s tracks, though a snowfall would have been even better.

One day later, heavy snow fell from the sky. The following night, he appeared at the small courtyard’s gate, carrying a large sack.

"You’re finally back," Flower Scorpion opened the gate, speaking quietly, "Geng Shougong is almost going crazy lately!"

"What’s he flipped out about?" Qu Jianlei asked in amazement, "I’m locked up studying, what’s that to him?"

"Well..." Flower Scorpion wanted to explain, but felt it wasn’t urgent, "You injured?"

That’s a true comrade, asking if you’re hurt before caring about your gain.

"That bunch of trash?" Qu Jianlei chuckled derisively and raised a hand, "Earned at least this much!"

"Really?" Flower Scorpion was genuinely surprised, "Five thousand... that little group had that much money?"

"That’s how war is," Qu Jianlei replied casually, "High costs bring impressive gains."

"A faction, let alone a country, could go bankrupt from a prolonged war... it’s not surprising."

"Country..." Flower Scorpion was momentarily taken aback, "Such a distant term, there hasn’t been a country since before doomsday."
