Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse Chapter 315

Hanging up the call, Xu Xin looked out from the treehouse window.

The door of the Red Mist cabin was tightly closed, and Lou Fei’Er seemed yet to step outside.

Is nothing wrong in there?

Xu Xin immediately swung down from the treehouse and quickly walked to the side of the cabin, peering inside through the window.

Lou Fei’Er still leaned against the wooden wall of the cabin, sitting on the ground.

The blood marks on her face had turned bright red and did not flicker like that of the Silver King; they were very stable, like two fresh strokes of blood just applied.

Her eyes were tightly shut, corners slightly twitching, and her brows knitted, as if experiencing some nightmare. With every breath, the red mist around her was inhaled repeatedly, and her body trembled slightly.

She didn’t seem as comfortable as when she first entered; now she looked somewhat uncomfortable.

Moreover, has she been inside too long?

Longer than the Silver King, and he is an intermediate mutant creature. For Lou Fei’Er to be directly contracted by him, at most, she’s just a beginner!

Xu Xin immediately knocked on the glass window, shouting inside, "Hey, wake up! Don’t fall asleep in there, come out quickly!"

Upon hearing the knocking and Xu Xin’s reminder, Lou Fei’Er reacted.

Her eyelids twitched first and then suddenly opened, staring straight at Xu Xin.

Those blood-red eyes, bright as if glowing, inexplicably filled Xu Xin with a sense of tension.

This feeling was like staring into the eyes of the Lake Giant Python!

He put his hand on his backpack, fully alert, ready to draw his halberd at any time.

But Lou Fei’Er didn’t go berserk or do anything strange; she looked as if she just woke up, her expression becoming somewhat uncertain and slightly panicked.

"I... cough, cough! I’m coming out right away! Cough..."

She wouldn’t defy Xu Xin and was about to head out, but as soon as she opened her mouth, the dense red mist choked her, losing her previous composure completely.

"Bang!" The door was pushed open, and Lou Fei’Er rushed out, the dense red mist following her, pouring out through the open cabin door.

Xu Xin covered his mouth and stepped back, "Close the door!"

"Oh, oh... cough... okay!" Lou Fei’Er, face reddened from coughing, slapped the wooden door of the treehouse.

"Bang!" The door was shut heavily, blocking the red mist from gushing out.

After coughing incessantly for a while, Lou Fei’Er gradually returned to normal.

"What happened? How could you get choked by the red mist? Don’t you red mist?" Xu Xin frowned at her and asked.

Because she’d stayed inside for too long, her body seemed infused with the dense red mist, and even after coming out, she carried a scent that lingered.

However, the smell wasn’t foul, but a faint fragrance, similar to when the red mist is thin.

Yet, this scent cast a shadow on Xu Xin, and he didn’t like it.

"...I don’t know either. After you startled me awake, I got choked by the red mist as soon as I opened my mouth. Now it feels like I’m so full that no delicious food could whet my appetite." Lou Fei’Er seemed somewhat lost and showed a tinge of... uncertainty, like she had just experienced something frightening.

"Startled awake?" Xu Xin caught the key in her words and asked, "Did you fall asleep just now?"

"...Yeah." Lou Fei’Er’s gaze shifted slightly to the side.

Xu Xin looked into her scarlet eyes, "Be honest."

Lou Fei’Er gritted her teeth.

She shouldn’t have such a childish reaction to lying, but the contract strongly opposed her lying to Xu Xin. Yet, she didn’t want to share what she had just gone through with anyone else, and in her struggle, she revealed a flaw.

This matter was too bizarre; she couldn’t explain it at all.

But since Xu Xin had told her to be truthful, she had no choice but to speak.

"...This red mist can induce hallucinations," Lou Fei’Er took a deep breath and revealed the truth, "I was just immersed in illusions, knowing it was fake, yet not wanting to come out."

"Hallucination?" Xu Xin’s heart skipped a beat. It really can cause hallucinations?

He glanced at the small wooden house and continued to ask, "What hallucination did you see?"

Lou Fei’Er looked torn, and softly asked, "Can I not say? It’s my privacy, and I don’t want to say."

"That makes me even more curious." Naturally, Xu Xin wanted to know everything about the red mist, and he unfeelingly refused.

"...You jerk!" Lou Fei’Er fumed.

But she really couldn’t refuse, so she began recounting the hallucination she experienced to Xu Xin.

It wasn’t anything strange; Lou Fei’Er simply saw her family, saw their very ordinary life, and saw her familiar room.

"What’s so private about that?" Xu Xin was speechless.

Isn’t this just dreaming about whatever you think of during the day?

Lou Fei’Er, in fact, didn’t like talking about her family with others, but since she’d mentioned it, it didn’t matter anymore.

"No, it’s different." She slightly frowned, and under Xu Xin’s gaze, the two blood marks on her face were slowly fading, "What I saw felt like a hallucination, yet not quite."
