Starting with Proficiency Panel Chapter 37

Aside from changes in form and skin, everything else basically retains a human appearance.

That face, it’s none other than the Chen Guohua they talk about!

Xiay Yang and Lu Ren walked to the thick alloy door at the end of the corridor. Xiay Yang whispered, "Will we succeed?"

Lu Ren glanced at Xiay Yang, stared at the alloy door, and nodded slightly.

"We should be able to do it."

As long as Dr. Chen Guohua isn’t too much of a monster, there’s definitely a chance.

"I’ve finally got the chance to see in person the Dr. Chen Guohua who changed the entire world."

Xiay Yang took a deep breath, and only when Lu Ren was ready did she take out the magnetic card to open the door, simultaneously authenticating fingerprint, iris, and even DNA, before the successful verification beep sounded.

The door emitted a heavy collision sound and began to slide open slowly.

As soon as the alloy door revealed a human-wide gap, Lu Ren’s expression became serious, staring directly at the contaminated creature standing in the doorway.

Once a world-renowned legendary scientist, Dr. Chen Guohua.

But now, with eyes full of bloodlust and ferocity, devoid of any rationality, staring at him like a beast.

Lu Ren’s heart twinged; the ending looked tragic. Without hesitation, his right hand thrust the longsword forward, the sound of the sword slicing through air howling, creating a sword sound.

A flash of lightning, life and death in an instant.

The longsword struck Chen Guohua’s chest but couldn’t penetrate an inch. Even after the previous high-intensity impact, the weapon taken from the contaminated creature’s blade segment reached its limit.

The longsword shattered bit by bit, fragments scattering.

"Ding, your attack failed to effectively pierce the opponent’s skin, your basic swordsmanship skill level hence +1"

As the alloy door opened, Chen Guohua’s movement was momentarily halted by Lu Ren’s strike, but he immediately lunged at Lu Ren again.

His agility and power surpassed Lu Ren’s, but in terms of combat skills, Lu Ren was entirely superior.

Chen Guohua was acting purely on instinct.

Lu Ren didn’t panic at all, even because the alloy door wasn’t fully open, forcing Chen Guohua to lunge awkwardly, allowing him a moment to glance at Xiay Yang, crouching near the door frame.

Seeing her expression was calm as she sought the opportunity to rush into the control room, utilizing obstacles for leverage.

Absolutely cannot engage in combat with Chen Guohua in the corridor passage; otherwise, due to his large physique, the space to dodge and maneuver is exceedingly narrow.

The margin for error is extremely low; if there is the slightest mistake and Chen Guohua gets the opportunity to catch them, the outcome would be extremely disastrous.

Only by charging into the control room can they have space to maneuver.

Lu Ren crouched, reducing his contact area as much as possible while taking a stride, close to Chen Guohua’s leg, which was as thick as a pillar, twisting his waist tightly into the high-energy particle accelerator control room.

When Lu Ren landed, he supported himself on the ground with both hands. As he bent down, his arm muscles tensed, bouncing off like a spring, leaping back several steps, surpassing more than ten meters away from Chen Guohua, who was bending over, trying to reach for something.

Despite having physical attributes slightly above average, compared to these contaminated creatures, Lu Ren was considerably lacking, yet his basic fighting skills compensated for that deficiency.

Lu Ren nearly ended up at the edge of the control room glass panel. The scene below was where the space portal generated by the high-energy particle collision was located.

At this moment, the purple elliptical space portal below wobbled and shivered, even visibly expanding at a slow pace, and this process was accelerating.

As Xiay Yang’s horrified expression came into his view, at that moment, she was grabbed by Chen Guohua’s fan-sized hand, thrown towards Lu Ren.

Lu Ren’s expression remained unchanged. Slightly shifting his body, Xiay Yang brushed past him, crashing heavily into the highly durable bulletproof glass, and then fell to the ground heavily.

In the process, he could even hear a series of bone-cracking sounds.

At least several ribs were broken, and her limbs were bent awkwardly.

Lu Ren could see the expression of disbelief on Xiay Yang’s face when she realized he had no intention of catching her.

"Why... why?" Xiay Yang gasped, blood oozing from her mouth and nose, full of disbelief.

Lu Ren looked at her coldly, "Still pretending when you’re about to die?"

Xiay Yang was stunned for a moment; then her expression quickly darkened, full of malice, speaking as if she wasn’t hurt at all.

If not for her legs being unnaturally bent, Lu Ren would have considered going over to finish her off.

"What did you notice?"

"The story you told me had too many flaws."

Lu Ren casually replied and then focused on the approaching Chen Guohua.

If it weren’t for the ultra-high-frequency cutting blade Xiay Yang gave him, facing such a situation, he would have turned and fled without hesitation. Even if, as Qingxu claimed, the space portal would expand, plunging the entire world into disaster, Lu Ren would see himself as a mere bystander.

He could just hide somewhere, survive for seven days if need be, and escape this city if necessary.

With each step Chen Guohua took, his heavy body would emit a dull "thud" sound.

His speed was both fast and swift, along with his muscular build, enough to suffocate the average person.

But Lu Ren’s spirit level of eight points kept him calm. Despite the fear in his heart, it was natural to be frightened; Lu Ren managed to forcibly control his emotions, calming himself down to face his enemy in the best state.

Under Chen Guohua’s terrifying physique, Lu Ren seemed like a little chick, easily crushed if careless.

But regardless of size, in the control center, filled with various instruments and operation tables, Chen Guohua’s movements were ultimately restricted.

Lu Ren stepped sideways, twisting his waist and vigorously kicked, leaping forward to leave the spot, his longsword in his right hand flinging out like an arrow, shooting toward Chen Guohua’s eyes.

However, Chen Guohua merely raised his arm, his fan-sized hand swatting the flying longsword like a fly, sending it away like a mere twig.

But it ultimately caused him to pause his movement momentarily, though only for a split second.

Nonetheless, Lu Ren gained sufficient time to escape.

A muffled crashing sound abruptly echoed. Lu Ren turned to see Chen Guohua, unable to stop due to his speed, crashed heavily into the tempered glass of the floor-to-ceiling window.

Telltale cracks spread across the tempered glass immediately.

Terrifying collision force; had Lu Ren been hit by it or merely grazed by it, he was sure he’d instantly lose his combat ability, becoming as helpless as Xiay Yang, easy prey.
