Steampunk Era: Mad Abield Chapter 674

"Hello, young man, are you a neighbor?" Larraya asked.

"Yes, you see, that’s my house," the boy pointed across the street, and Larraya saw the house that had been vacant across the street was being moved into. An old man with white hair noticed his gaze and smiled, tipping his hat.

An elderly gentleman, dressed appropriately, should be the butler and his children by his side, and an old lady was sitting in the garden having tea with her two daughters or daughters-in-law.

In any case, this family looked much better than their scruffy little son.

Seeing this, Larraya smiled, opened the door, and said, "Come in, please, young sir."

"Thank you. This is some pastry my sister brought from Carterburg to share with you." The boy walked into the living room, carelessly set the box on the coffee table, opened it, and showed Larraya and Clover the beautiful pastries. The aroma made it clear to Larraya that these were definitely Carterburg’s genuine pastries.

It was said that this was one of the many reasons people visited Carterburg—because they were too delicious.

"Too much," Clover said with some surprise, looking at Larraya somewhat shyly, "It’s too kind, isn’t it, Mack?"

"Don’t be shy, this is a housewarming gift for you, Mr. Larraya, and Mrs. Larraya," the boy responded with a smile.

The atmosphere suddenly became tight.

After Malin said this, he noticed the astonishment and vigilance on the faces of the young girl with her hand behind her back and her apparently middle-aged lover.

So Malin reached out to close the door, and as Spiritual Energy carried the door shut, Malin’s left hand caught the boning knife the girl had thrust at his waist. Spiritual Energy covered his hand, twisting the greasy knife into a corkscrew, while pulling the girl into his embrace to shield himself from the revolver in Larraya’s hands. At the same time, his right hand reached out and caught the bullet fired by the young man who hadn’t been able to stop himself in time.

Looking at the two unsettled faces, Malin shook his head— as far as acting goes, it was passable. The bigger problem was that Larraya almost lost control of his finger, which was truly unacceptable. Larraya, how could you not rely on your own fingers?

"This isn’t fun, Mr. Larraya. I thought as a thief, you should be able to control your fingers," Malin said, then used Spiritual Energy to bend the revolver’s barrel upward 90 degrees and pushed the girl into Larraya’s arms.

Malin sat down on the couch, placed the bullet on the coffee table, and then removed his disguise: "Mr. Larraya, I think we should be upfront with each other, although your disguise was completely ineffective against me."

"Lord Malin?!" Clover, held by her lover, exclaimed in surprise upon recognizing Malin.

This took Malin by surprise: "You know me?"

And then Malin regretted it—he had indeed seen her when they built the new town. Oh well, just pretend not to know.

As Malin had predicted, the girl had seen him at that time. Although Malin was 1.8 meters tall at that time and now 1.4 meters, with very similar features between the eyebrows, it made Malin miss his reconnaissance form (1.2 meters)—when he was 1.2 meters tall, no one could ever recognize him at first glance.

"You are Lord Malin, indeed. Is there something you need?" Knowing that the young man in front of him was truly Malin, Larraya removed his disguise, sat down with a bitter smile across from Malin.

"I know your difficulties and what troubles you now. To be honest, boy, you once took the wallet of an unlucky fellow named Logan, who is my friend. This once made me ponder whether or not to help you."

"He’s your friend? I’m sorry." The young man said somewhat awkwardly, "But indeed, as you said, my lover and I have a trouble, although I don’t know if the trouble in my eyes is the same as the trouble you’re going to talk about."

"Do you remember what you threw into the toilet?" Malin asked with a smile.

Larraya turned her head to glance at Larraya, who nodded very embarrassedly: "Of course, I remember that thing. It was so evil I felt it shouldn’t be in human possession, so I threw it away."

"Yes, now the owners of that evil artifact have found you. They have confirmed your identity and are planning to execute you today," said Malin.

Then he noticed that it was the ’widow’ who had spoken first: "Since Lord Malin said so, there must be a way to hold them off, right?"

"Yes, I had several blocks where they are located surrounded today under the pretense of checking the incoming population. They won’t be able to leave the old town area where they are tonight," Malin finished, noting the elf girl discreetly patting Larraya’s hand.

"Lord Malin, since you are willing to help us today, then you will certainly help us a second time. What can you do, what price must we pay?"

Well, surprisingly, although it seemed that in this young couple’s little family, it was Larraya who attended to external affairs, in fact, this elf girl named Four-Leaf was the ideal choice for their external affairs, she was the Holmes, while Larraya was more like a Watson.

Now that the lady had opened the skylight, Malin spoke plainly, "Larraya, I need your Sequence."

"You mean my disguise talent? But I’ve never drunk any Magic Potion, nor done anything. It’s an ability that just appeared suddenly," Larraya said with a puzzled face.

"That’s no problem. I offer you this condition: tonight you follow me, and I will have two master alchemists define your Sequence for you. Then I will give you a large sum of gold, two sets of identity documents that are foolproof even by Sydney’s standards, a small mansion in Carterburg’s new city as your new home, and most importantly, you can leave this city by noon tomorrow. I have arranged for you two to catch a train, to leave this place," finished Malin, looking at the elf girl, waiting for her answer.

And the young girl smiled: "It seems, Lord Malin, you have already devised a perfect fate for those Cultists of Chaos."

"Yes, trust me, all those damned Cultists of Chaos will die in tomorrow night’s operation," Malin said, "Now, the choice is yours; do you want to leave with me, or do you want to wait a little longer?"

"We will go with you; almost no choice needs to be made," the young elf girl answered for her lover, once again demonstrating her grip on the situation.

Malin was very pleased with this; she was a very sensible woman, possessing much more inspiration and intellect than her lover.

Larraya was a lucky guy; how many people marry the wrong person after seeing the wrong person, and he, having such a lover, his life was already without regrets.

"If that is the case, then let’s go," Malin thought as he stood up and pulled open a teleportation gateway: "Old rules, stand on the spot and choose the door; are you going to take the front or the back?"

"The front, I suppose. We trust you, Lord Malin. If you don’t plan to kill us here, then you will surely claim our lives elsewhere."

"Larraya, you see how lucky that good kid of yours is," Malin said, laughing as he watched the two of them enter the gateway.

Then he followed them through.
