She can go downstairs to help Mom wash the dishes and tidy up the kitchen.
Just as she turned and walked to the door, she heard his voice.
"I thought you were asleep." Tian Xingyun turned back to the bedside, took the water from the cabinet and handed it to him.
"You thought I was asleep and wanted to go out?" Huo Shaohua sat up, leaned against the headboard, and took big gulps of the water she handed him.
He wasn’t asleep, just resting with his eyes closed for a while.
He knew she was bringing in water and was testing whether she would go out.
Unexpectedly, she thought he had fallen asleep and really intended to go downstairs to care for Tian Ning!
"I was going to help Mom wash the dishes, there’s so much to do downstairs."
"You’re pregnant, don’t go and create a commotion. Your mother-in-law and sister-in-law are there, what are you worried about?" Huo Shaohua said coldly, she obviously wanted to care for Tian Ning but used her mother-in-law as an excuse.
"Sleep." Huo Shaohua handed her the cup.
"How should I sleep?" Tian Xingyun took the cup and placed it on the table, blinking as she asked him.
"On the bed, how else?" Huo Shaohua was stunned, feeling inexplicably questioned.
"You sleep on the bed, I’ll sleep on the small sofa."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Huo Shaohua’s face immediately darkened, she wanted to sleep separately after talking to Tian Ning today?
Is Tian Ning that charming?
"The bed is too small for two people, and you feel uncomfortable sleeping on it after getting drunk."
"No need, sleep on the bed!" Huo Shaohua looked at the space beside him, it was clearly enough for her.
She just didn’t want to sleep together with him, it must be because of Tian Ning.
"It will be cramped."
"Didn’t you understand what I said? Do you want your parents to know we’re sleeping separately?" Huo Shaohua warned her coldly with squinted eyes.
Tian Xingyun considered for a few seconds and agreed with him; their parents shouldn’t know about their issues.
"Okay." She nodded, took off her shoes, climbed into bed, and lay down in the inside space.
Huo Shaohua pulled the blanket over her, moved his body to the side.
This is a single bed, it’s indeed cramped for two people, especially since she is pregnant.
After a tiring day, they quickly fell asleep once the lights were off.
"Ring~" Huo Shaohua’s phone on the cabinet kept ringing persistently.
Huo Shaohua woke up annoyed, wondering who would call him so early.
This person better have something important, or he’s dead!
He sat up, picked up the phone, lifted the blanket and quietly got out of bed to avoid waking Tian Xingyun.
With the phone in hand, he walked to the door, opened it, and stepped into the hallway. He saw the caller was Andy.
Answering the call: "What’s up?"
"President Huo, I didn’t mean to disturb your sleep!" Andy immediately explained, sensing President Huo’s displeasure from his tone.
"I called you yesterday but couldn’t reach you. Song Yi’s parents are back from their trip and want you to accompany them for a couple of days. They’re arriving this afternoon."
"Got it. You go to the airport to pick them up and arrange their hotel rooms." Huo Shaohua frowned, his expression turning very heavy.
"Okay, I won’t bother you anymore then. Goodbye!" Andy quickly hung up the call, patting his chest in relief.
He couldn’t reach President Huo yesterday, so he stayed up all night worrying.
He could have called Tian Xingyun to find President Huo, but he didn’t want to disturb her rare moment of happiness.
President Huo rarely accompanies her home, just for one day. Telling him later wouldn’t have made a difference.
After hanging up, Huo Shaohua returned to the room to find Tian Xingyun already awake.
She lay on the bed, blinking and motionless, looking like she hadn’t slept enough.
