Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time Chapter 433

Xuan Qing's eyes were grim as she swept her gaze over the chamber again, though it remained as barren as before.

Senior Brother Duan spoke firmly, his voice steady despite the weariness visible in his posture. "Don't lose your composure. If we got in here, then there must be a way out. Arrays aren't without flaw. It's just a matter of finding the method."

His tone was calm, but the reassurance was directed as much at himself as at the others.

Fatty Kui swallowed hard, muttering, "Easy for you to say. What if this is meant to be our tomb?"

Han Yu's sharp eyes caught the ripple of unease that spread through the group at that comment.

Even if no one wanted to say it, they had all considered the possibility. This place was an alchemist's repository, not a sect's training ground. Its dangers weren't designed with fairness in mind, they were designed to ensure secrets stayed buried.

"We'll find a way," Xuan Qing said more gently, her gaze firm on Fatty Kui until he lowered his eyes. "Panicking won't help."

The group began testing the chamber again.

This time, they focused on the walls themselves, searching for hidden inscriptions or pressure points. Chitterfang was sent scurrying along the edges, sniffing for hollow spaces or seams. The rat scratched twice at one section of wall, squeaking insistently.

Han Yu walked over and ran his fingers across the stone. There was, indeed, a faint indentation there... almost imperceptible to the eye, but noticeable to the touch. With the seniors' assistance, they pressed against it and the wall groaned faintly before sliding aside, revealing a narrow passage.

"Finally!" Fatty Kui said, his round face breaking into relief. "A hidden path!"

But when they followed it, winding through the darkness, they soon realized it curved and twisted before, once again... leading them back to the same central chamber.

"…You've got to be kidding me," one of the other seniors muttered bitterly.

The other seniors frowned but said nothing, and they tried again. A second hidden passage, this one revealed by Chitterfang scratching at the floor tiles near a corner. Yet this too curved back, feeding them once again into the same accursed chamber.

The oppressive weight in the air seemed to grow heavier each time they returned, as though the repository itself were mocking their efforts.

"Think," Xuan Qing said sharply, her voice cutting through their growing frustration. "There's a pattern to everything we've faced so far. None of these traps are random, they're designed with intent. This maze will be no different."

So they began carefully recording their paths. Each disciple used small cuts of qi to mark the stone walls, leaving glowing streaks or faint talisman papers pinned in corners. With each loop, they traced the routes they had taken, and slowly a pattern emerged.

Han Yu, crouched near the center with his eyes narrowed in thought, was the one who voiced it. "Every time we take a different path, the chamber doesn't just reset. The hallways themselves… shift."

The seniors paused, realizing the truth of his words.

"Yes," Xuan Qing said after a moment, her brows furrowing. "The corridors realign themselves based on our choices. Walking one route causes another to change."

"And yet," Senior Brother Duan added grimly, "no matter how they shift, the result is always the same... we're funneled back here."

Han Yu tapped the hilt of his halberd thoughtfully, his expression calm despite the tension. "That means the solution isn't about finding the right path. It's about triggering the right change. Something that alters the maze in a way we haven't yet tested."

Silence fell as the disciples thought. Then one of the quieter seniors hesitantly spoke. "We've all been taking the same routes together so far… What if that's the problem?"

The suggestion hung in the air like a blade.

Fatty Kui's eyes widened. "You mean… we all split up? Take different routes at the same time?" His face went pale again. "Are you insane? If the traps ahead are like the ones we've already faced, some of us might never make it back!"

But the logic of it was undeniable. They had tested every other option.

Senior Brother Duan's expression was grave. "Dangerous as it is, it may be the only way forward. This maze may require simultaneous choices to unlock the next stage."

No one wanted to agree, but they had no choice. Finally, one by one, the disciples nodded, even Fatty Kui though his hands trembled as he adjusted his robe.

They lined up, each before a different path leading away from the chamber. Senior Brother Duan gave a final look around the group, his eyes lingering on each junior to steady them. "Stay sharp. If something happens, fall back immediately. Don't try to be a hero."

Then, together, they stepped into their chosen routes.

The air shifted instantly. The stone walls shuddered faintly, as though the entire maze were awakening. Han Yu felt a low rumble beneath his feet, like the grinding of colossal gears hidden deep underground. Dust fell from the ceiling as the corridors trembled.

And then, as if pulled by some invisible hand, the paths warped.

By instinct, each disciple turned back, rushing to the central chamber. When they reassembled, their expressions were taut with anticipation, expecting the same empty circle they had returned to so many times before.

But this time… it was different.

Instead of a barren chamber, the circular room was now filled with people. Dozens of them. Their figures were sharp against the dim glow of the stone walls, and their robes bore the unmistakable mark of the Mist Eye Sect.

Han Yu's stomach dropped.

There were more than thirty of them, their presence filling the chamber with an oppressive weight. The Mist Eye disciples stood ready, hands on weapons, their gazes sharp and suspicious as they noticed the new arrivals. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭·𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮·𝙣𝙚𝙩

The atmosphere went deathly still as an oppressive silence filled the air.
