Selina gently brushed a few loose strands of hair from Lily’s face. The little girl’s lips were slightly parted, her small hand resting against Selina’s arm.
She was completely out now.
Gray watched quietly for a moment, the corners of his mouth softening.
"Guess that’s our signal to wrap up," he murmured.
Selina smiled and nodded.
"She looks so peaceful..." Her voice was barely above a whisper. The two were careful to not wake her up.
"Yeah," Gray muttered before nodding. He helped Selina as they tried to move Lily.
"I’ll move here," Gray stood and moved closer. He slipped one arm beneath Lily’s shoulders and another beneath her knees. She stirred just a little, mumbling something in her sleep, before resting her head against his chest.
"She’s heavier than she looks," he joked softly.
Selina chuckled under her breath. "You’re just getting old."
"Hey, that’s mean."
Selina covered her mouth, trying not to laugh too loudly as they quietly made their way to her room. The condo was dim now, with only the light from the lamps as its source of light.
Selina gently pushed open Lily’s bedroom door, helping Gray. The room smelled faintly of lavender and had soft, pink accents. He lowered her carefully onto the bed, pulling the blanket over her small frame.
Selina leaned down and brushed a hand through Lily’s hair.
"Goodnight, Princess," she whispered with a smile on her face.
Gray stood beside her with his hands in his pockets. He looked at Lily for a moment and sighed. He already knew what will happen by tomorrow.
"She’ll be out until morning."
"I hope so," Selina said softly. "She deserves a good rest after all that excitement."
Gray just chuckled. After making sure Lily was comfortable in her sleep, the two eventually left her room.
They stopped by the living room for a moment. The remnants of their night were still there. The board game was still scattered around, their cans of soda were still on the table, and there was even a plate with unfinished cake on it.
"That was fun." Selina tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, smiling faintly.
"Yeah," Gray said. "She really loves having you around."
Her eyes softened. "And I love being here." She looked at him for a moment, her tone turning more gentle. "You’re really doing great with her, you know."
Gray’s gaze dropped briefly to the table before meeting hers again.
"I try. It’s not always easy, but... she makes it worth it."
They both stood there quietly for a few seconds, just enough for the silence to feel comfortable.
Then Gray cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck lightly.
"So," he said, glancing toward the door, "are you going to head back to your unit tonight, or...?"
Selina met his eyes and gave a small smile, shaking her head slowly. "No. I’ll stay here for tonight."
"Are you sure?" Gray raised a brow slightly.
"Mm." She nodded. "I promised Lily I would sleep here and I don’t really feel like going yet."
"Alright then. Do you want to go to my room?"
"Sure..."
They started walking toward his room together. The night for them hadn’t fully ended yet.
Inside Gray’s room, the air was cooler. Selina walked in and sat at the edge of the bed, letting out a small sigh.
"It’s been a while since I’ve had a night like this," she said, smiling faintly. "Just... ordinary, but nice."
"Yeah. It’s been a while for me too." Gray leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed loosely.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The silence was comfortable, like they were just thinking of what had happened today.
Finally, Gray walked over and sat beside her. "You know," he said quietly, "you looked like you were having fun earlier. I didn’t think you were the type to get so into board games."
Selina laughed softly. "I wasn’t. But I guess Lily’s energy is contagious." She looked down at her hands, then smiled again. "I can see why you care about her so much. She’s full of life."
"She is," Gray agreed, his tone softer now. "She keeps this place from feeling too quiet."
The two of them shared a look at each other.
"Selina..." he said softly.
She hummed in response, her tone barely audible.
He didn’t say anything more after that. Instead, Gray reached out, brushing his fingers gently along her cheek. She didn’t move away. Her breath hitched slightly as he leaned closer.
The distance between them slowly disappeared.
Their lips met in a soft kiss.
Selina’s hand came up to rest against his shoulder, while Gray’s other hand went up, pulling her face closer to his.
Their kiss started slow, but soon enough, they were hungry for each other. Their lips clashed against each other, moving together. Gray licked Selina’s lips.
"Hmngg~" Selina made a small sound as she opened her mouth to welcome Gray’s wet tongue fully. Their tongues fought each other as if no one wanted to back down.
Gray slowly brought his hands towards Selina’s thighs, caressing them lightly. Even if she was wearing a pajama, he could feel that her skin was delicate in his hands.
