On the third day, the county’s decision came through.
Alexander Lee and Eleanor Smith both received a reprimand, which didn’t have much effect. Matthew Carter was directly transferred to a department within the county to carry out duties.
Peter figured that someone influential must have pulled strings for Matthew behind the scenes.
As for the others in the township, they were not affected either.
After the incident, the ghost haunting became a major issue, while Matthew’s use of sex workers turned into a minor one.
Upon learning the outcome, Peter was speechless. This situation made him realize once again that the significance of an incident depended on its context. Other events may overshadow what would normally be considered a major event, rendering it insignificant.
Initially, Peter wanted to deal with Matthew, but had not expected the situation to deviate with the involvement of the Fierce Tiger Gang. Matthew unintentionally became insignificant, an outcome Peter hadn’t foreseen.
However, this worked out just fine, as Matthew was dealt with after all.
"Mayor Wang, are you satisfied with this office?"
Hugh Hill came in with a flattering demeanor.
It was the first time Peter had seen Hugh act this way, causing suspicion to stir up in his heart.
"It’s fine, it’s fine."
Not understanding Hugh’s intentions, Peter stood up smiling.
"No need to get up, no need to get up," Hugh quickly said.
He looked around the room and said, "Your office has always been somewhat lacking. I want to ask your opinion on whether we should change it. If we clean up the former record room upstairs, it would be very nice, much bigger than this one."
Peter recalled the conditions of the record room. Indeed, it was much larger and far better than his current office. However, Peter had already adjusted to this office and felt no need to move. He shook his head, "I think this place is quite good, there’s no need."
After taking a good look at Peter, Hugh left after lavishing him with praises.

After her report, she even tried to cozy up to him, suggesting to treat him to a meal.
