The moment Peter returned to his village, he felt such ease.
Being out there even at the best of times could not bring him the warmth he felt at home.
“Peter, did you just get back in town?”
Seeing the surprise and delight on Quinn’s face, Peter found her more genuine and endearing than before.
Observing her city-styled makeover, Peter teased, “Is that a new outfit you have on?”
A bit shy, Quinn replied: “City folks dress .
Do you think it suits me?”
Peter complimented Quinn wholeheartedly.
It was noticeable that her dressing had improved, elevating her appeal.
She indeed looked breathtakingly beautiful.
Quinn proudly stated: “I bought it just yesterday in the County Town using the money you gave me.”
“Peter!” Hellen Brown came in a skirt, her long legs equally enticing.
She looked at Peter bashfully as she stood.
“You guys went to town yesterday?”
“Yes, we made a special trip to deliver a carload of wine to town.
You wanted to get fiber optics for the village, so we went to sort some paperwork for that.”
At the sight of Hellen, Peter noticed that she looked much more spirited, probably as a result of improved living conditions.
Peter consents, “To develop here, we need a network.
We’ll work on one thing at a time until we have everything.”
“These girls are really useful!”
Putting those random thoughts aside, Peter brought out the tree spirit.
“Remember, from now on, you’re on guard duty for me.
Root yourself all around this mansion.
I’ll hold you accountable if anything goes awry!”
The tree spirit reassured, “Master, rest assured.
The spiritual energy here is plentiful.
As long as I absorb it, I can grow quickly.
By then, the whole mansion will be under my surveillance.”
Peter planted the tree spirit into the ground.
With the tree spirit buried, Peter saw a small tree sprouting.
“Master, I will place the main tree in your villa when the time comes.”
While observing the tree spirit grow by itself, Peter wasn’t worried at all, knowing that he now had control over it.
After settling the tree spirit, Peter went to check the planting situation of the ginseng and other botanicals he had bought.
On reaching the field, Peter noticed his father directing the planting.
He admired that Raven Walter far surpassed him in this regard.
Seeing Peter, Raven frowned: “Peter, I do have reservations.
Do you think these will survive?”
“Dad, you can rest easy.
Peter was confident that there was nothing wrong with his planting method.
He could sense the strong vitality of each medicinal plant.
“That’s good then, that’s good.”
The Windsor family’s considerable transformation was due to Peter.
Doubting him was out of the question.
“By the way, yesterday a leader from the county came to evaluate our mansion.
Somehow, I find this person’s intentions to be dubious.”
Upon hearing his father’s suspicion, Peter chuckled: “How do you know he’s up to no good?”
“Peter, this person is not acquainted with us and wore a frown throughout his visit.
When he was leaving, I invited him to eat with us, but he grunted and didn’t seem pleased.”
Upon hearing this, Peter was startled.
His influence here had already spread, even perceived by the county’s leaders.
So he wondered why such a thing could happen.
Raven advised, “Our family’s progress hasn’t been easy.
You should also be alert.”
Having checked the status of the crops, Peter returned to his villa to sit down and ponder.
Finally, he ended up making a call to Reuben Taylor.
“Peter, are you home?”
“Where else would I be if not at home?” Peter laughed.
I hardly recognized you after getting out of prison.
You seem like a totally different person!”
Peter replied: “Three years gathered knowledge and experience inside, of course there should be changes.”
After some small talk, Peter asked, “Reuben, are there any changes in the county?”
“Huh, how do you know?”
From this response, Peter knew something was indeed afoot at the county.
“Yesterday, a leader visited us.
As per my dad, he seemed to be wearing his eyes and nose all wrong.”
Reuben sighed: “You have no idea, that guy holds significant influence.
He’s here for gilding.”
I haven’t offended him in any way,” Peter seemed bewildered.
Reuben explained: “He’s a paratrooper.
He’s not listening to anyone in the county due to his strong background.
He unilaterally decides on many things.”
Peter hadn’t anticipated such a situation.
Remarking Peter’s silence, Reuben continued: “His patron is more powerful than the county leaders, so everyone just tolerates him.”
Peter could sense that even Reuben’s father’s side seemed helpless in face of this situation.
“What was his purpose in coming to me?” Peter didn’t know much about the guy’s intentions.
“Aren’t you planning for development?
Aren’t you constructing roads?
All these are related to my dad.
He is new here, just wants to gain something out of this situation.”
After understanding the situation, Peter ended the call.
“Peter, have you had dinner yet?” Quinn came in knocking.
“I was just thinking about going back for dinner.”
My mom is an excellent cook.
She’s made some game dishes and is waiting for you.”
Being in the countryside, hunters did occasionally catch game which excited Peter’s appetite, and he agreed to dine with Quinn, “Alright, I’m curious to taste your mom’s culinary prowess.”
