"Raa!" The mutant finally came close enough for everyone to see its appearance.
The mutant looked like a lizard but with a human head. However, it didn't have eyes and a nose like a normal human.
"Selena?!" Flora looked shocked, not understanding what was going on. "Have we been surrounded?"
"Why did Nathan hide inside that tornado?" Sera frowned.
Alavenya and Noelle didn't say anything. Still, both of them looked concerned. They wondered what Nathan was thinking.
Selena said, "We'll buy time for him. If there's not a single chance of victory, he won't even consider it, no matter what we're fighting for. He will say that our lives are more precious than a single mission right on my face.
"That's why I can fully trust my life to him. I know that he's doing this for my sake, but this is also a battle with a chance to win.
"We just have to buy time for him." Selena raised her wand. "In the future, there will definitely be a lot of moments . If we can't even buy enough time for him to think, there's no reason for us to keep fighting by his side."
"!!!" Sera and the others felt chills down their spines. It was true. If they were so weak that they couldn't even buy enough time for him to think of a plan to turn around the situation, there was no point in fighting alongside him.
Originally, they wanted to show him they would do just fine even after he left the team for a while, but it seemed this was their opportunity.
All of them nodded their heads, showing their determination.
They switched to the offensive, killing as many aliens as possible before the reinforcements arrived.
"…" Noelle looked at the warrior class alien in front of her. Her task was to crush it, but there was actually another path they could take.
Noelle suddenly turned her head to the right, staring at the warrior class alien that Flora and Sera fought.
"Murmur." Noelle muttered.
"Tsk. I got the annoying task, but it's fine. Go for it." Murmur harrumphed and leaped forth.
The warrior class alien that fought her plunged himself toward her, but Murmur leaped in its way and blocked him, only to be blown away. This whole time, they had been fighting together and somehow overpowering him, but just one of them alone was not enough to go against this alien.
It wasn't because Noelle was weaker than Alavenya, but it was due to the massive body of the alien, which packed a force beyond what they could handle. That size simply had a huge advantage against Noelle's team.
Still, Murmur somehow got back on his feet while pointing forward. "Your opponent is me."
On the other side, Flora activated her trap underneath the alien's body. "Spark!"
The magic circle manifested and produced a spark, but the alien punched the magic circle and the ground, destroying it after a second.
Other spirits wanted to help her, but the alien leaped first.
Asmodeus and Sera raised the amount of their ena, but Asmodeus suddenly stopped and turned to the left.
All of a sudden, the war horseman leaped into the air and fell right next to the alien. The latter turned around and struck him, but the horseman was faster. The horse sped up as the horseman struck the alien's arm, cutting it.
"!!!" Flora and Sera looked surprised, but they could understand Noelle's way of thinking. Since the situation had gone extreme, there was no point in continuing the individual task anymore.
It was better to work together and deal with the threat as much as possible. Because Flora and Sera had been dealing a lot of damage to the alien, the latter would have a hard time stopping an ambush from Noelle.
Now that the horseman cut his arm, Noelle could finally jump in.
"!!!" The alien noticed her and hurriedly waved its other hand, but it was too late.
If he still had the other arm, he would have been able to stop Noelle. But without it, the other arm couldn't reach her fast enough.
Noelle waved her sword downwards, creating two layered burning sword waves that first melted the alien's neck to soften it before cutting it.
Noelle nodded. "Sorry for taking your opponent. However, in a fight , it's good to aim for the unprepared one."
"It's fine. The current situation doesn't allow us to continue normally. Anyway, don't talk anymore. Focus on killing as many aliens as possible!" Flora waved her hand while Sera nodded in agreement.
"Yes." Noelle nodded. She turned around to return to her opponent, but Murmur was flying right next to her before crashing to the ground.
She saw the alien making a motion as though he had just punched Murmur away.
He then continued onward, chasing after Noelle.
Sera and Flora raised their hands, ready to support Noelle.
To their surprise, this might not be needed anymore.
All of a sudden, the temperature dropped significantly as the entire tornado that enveloped Nathan froze.
The ice spread in all directions, freezing everyone except for humans and familiars.
The ice field was 100 meters (328 feet) in diameter, reaching all the way to the last warrior class alien they had to fight from the first wave.
Flora dropped her jaw to the ground, as she couldn't believe what she was witnessing.
'Ice? Where does it come from? Does someone use ice?' Flora gasped.
'This is…' The ice reminded Sera of Nathan's power back in Rararoi Village.
'So, this is your choice.' Selena's expression turned solemn.
'I have been waiting for this. Our situation seems to be bad enough for him to use his trump card.' Alavenya grinned. 'Time to turn around the situation.'
Only Noelle thought it differently. The moment she saw the alien getting covered in a thick layer of ice, there was only one thing in her mind. It was to kill the alien.
'An opportunity!' Noelle's eyes flashed as she moved forward, flame flaring up from her sword. She struck the alien's neck as the flame weakened the ice and the sword strike shattered its neck.
