The following morning, as Yan Fei headed to the Company’s new Headquarters for work, he was pondering how to evade the watchful eyes of his protective Eagles and quietly leave the Jinshan Development Zone to head to the Middle East. Upon arriving at the Company’s entrance, he was taken aback to see a large crowd surrounding the door, laden with various cameras and equipment—it was a throng of Journalists from major media outlets.
After attending the News Conference of Dream Technology and publishing explosive news about the Company, these Journalists had seen a significant increase in web traffic to their respective news websites and had gained appreciation from their editors. Therefore, they were now highly enthusiastic about news related to Dream Technology, lingering around the new Company premises every day, in hopes of uncovering even more sensational stories, even yearning to find information about the mysterious product Mr. Yan Fei had announced.
Upon spotting Yan Fei’s vehicle from afar, the Journalists quickly converged on it, and when he stepped out of the car, they all looked at him. However, something was different from usual; while the Journalists did surround him upon seeing him, their eyes reflected an unusual expression, and none of them asked any questions out loud. The whole scene made Yan Fei somewhat uncomfortable, as he was unaccustomed to their sudden silence.
After a while, one of the Journalists asked in a low voice, “Chairman Yan Fei, how do you view the incident of your Company employee being brutally murdered?”
Yan Fei was startled; when had an employee of his Company been brutally murdered? Could the Journalist be referring to Bodyguard Wang Li, who was previously killed? While he was wondering how to respond, Lu Pingping also arrived at the Company. Her car was surrounded by the Journalists as well, and one of them began to ask her the same question.
Sharing a glance, they stood together, both somewhat bewildered. Yan Fei asked, “Dear Journalist friends, could you please clarify which employee of our Company has been brutally murdered?”
The Journalist who had posed the question replied, “Mr. Yan Fei, thirty minutes ago, the Middle Eastern Television Station broadcasted a video. The video showed your Company’s employee, Liu Tingting. She was brutally slashed across the throat by a member claiming to be an Envoy of the Assassin Sect, and she met with a violent death.”
Yan Fei, shocked, quickly asked, “Where is the video? Can I see it?”
The Journalist promptly opened up the Laptop he was carrying and played a video saved on the computer. The video featured a newscaster from the Television Station who began by briefly explaining the situation—that he had received a package containing a videotape, which he had already viewed. Despite finding the tape somewhat gruesome, he decided to release it publicly in the spirit of press freedom. After giving this introduction, the newscaster started playing the tape on Television.
In the video, it began with an empty white room, where a woman, covered in bruises, was bound and kneeling on the ground, with her eyes blindfolded by a black cloth. On the wall behind her was the flag of a Sect. Having been researching the history of the Assassin Sect recently, Yan Fei instantly recognized this flag as that of the Assassin Sect.
Upon seeing the captive woman, Lu Pingping, even though the woman’s face was obscured by a black cloth, immediately recognized her. She gasped, “Ah,” covering her mouth with a look of disbelief, saying, “That woman is my secretary, Liu Tingting. I had sent her to Europe to handle Agent affairs. How could she have been abducted?”
A feeling of unease grew stronger in Yan Fei’s heart, and then he saw a burly, towering man enter the frame from offscreen. The man had a large beard, and his face was scarred, his expressionless demeanor quite unsettling.
Suddenly, Lu Pingping grabbed Yan Fei’s arm, pointing at the bearded man. Yan Fei’s thoughts raced, and he immediately remembered the bearded man Lu Pingping mentioned encountering during her abduction. He had thought the bearded man had been killed by a Drone on the Submarine, yet here he was, appearing in the Television tape.
The bearded man then addressed the camera in English, saying, “Hello everyone! I am Abdullah Aziz, the most loyal Envoy of the great Assassin Sect. I was not supposed to appear in this video, but today I am furious, for someone has angered the great Assassin Sect, forcing me to show myself.”
After a short pause, the bearded man continued, “Yan Fei and Lu Pingping, the two most cunning Chinese People from the East. Because you went against the will of our master, causing us tremendous damage and the loss of ten of our finest Warriors, you have successfully enraged the great Assassin Sect. You have successfully enraged the respected Old Man of the Mountains, Huo Shan, and for that, you must meet a tragic end by our hands.”
“The woman behind me is your Company’s employee in Europe, holding an important position in your Company. While you managed to kill our Warriors in China, we have captured this woman in Europe, and her colleagues have all been killed by us. If she were not useful to us, she would have been killed long ago.”
Yan Fei clenched his Fist tightly, his fingernails piercing into his palm without his notice, his gaze fixated on the video.
