Bolton and Robin seemed to have other arrangements. Although they hadn’t located the Destroyer, and the special item they were using as bait had vanished, they were overjoyed upon discovering a large chunk of what looked like a metallic airplane under the surface of the river, and immediately issued the command to execute “Plan B.”
Very quickly, dozens of US military vehicles drove over, and many soldiers jumped off to set up various light and heavy weapons. Then they secured the surrounding area of this stretch of the river, forbidding anyone from leaving or approaching. Despite the absence of other people due to the violent weather, they carried out the orders that had been given to them.
Meanwhile, at another location, as a horn sounded, a huge warship sailed up from downstream of the Seine River. This vessel flew the American flag, and by its appearance, it seemed to be a Perry-class frigate of the US Navy. Although these frigates aren’t highly regarded within the Navy, serving a protective role, they still displace over 3000 tons and are over a hundred meters in length, making an impressive sight on the Seine River.
Normally, a giant warship displacing over three thousand tons wouldn’t travel on an inland river. However, due to the wide expanse and deep waters of the Seine River, even the Perry-class frigate could navigate upstream from the river’s mouth and appear on this stretch of the river by Paris downtown. The frigate had been hiding in a dock near Paris on the Seine River, and upon receiving the task to execute Plan B, it immediately mobilized and arrived at the location of the underwater airplane.
Apart from the personnel from the United States and Britain, people from other countries had no idea that the US Forces had this move up their sleeves, letting their navy enter the inland channel of the Seine River. However, they didn’t immediately question Bolton and instead observed carefully to see what this so-called Plan B was all about.
The Perry-class frigate was quick, swiftly reaching the vicinity of the search vessel that discovered the underwater airplane. It sounded its horn, prompting the search vessel to sail upward by two hundred meters, then stay upstream to watch. The frigate activated its equipment to scan the riverbed. Once it had a clear understanding of the airplane, it released a massive steel cable trawl net upstream from the underwater airplane. Caught in the water current, the net dragged across the riverbed and swiftly entangled the airplane. The frigate then started to reel in the net, attempting to pull the underwater airplane to the surface.
Yan Fei was in a state of unconsciousness when a violent shaking suddenly awakened him. Opening his eyes, he saw chaos underwater, with numerous objects flowing along with the current. His Drone Avatar was actually caught in a large net and was being continuously dragged toward the surface. There were constant collisions with rocks on the riverbed but the Drone Body was sturdy and, despite the impacts, didn’t sustain any damage.
Before, Yan Fei had suffered a critical injury with his entire right chest pierced by a large caliber bullet and had lost the ability to move. However, after receiving the infusion of Mysterious Energy from the black sphere, his injuries were healing rapidly. When he was startled awake by the commotion, he found that 70% of his injuries had healed, and he regained the ability to move. Even the wound on his chest had scabbed over and fallen off, appearing as though he had never been injured, which was amazing. However, the Mysterious Energy from the black sphere was no longer flowing into Yan Fei, so he took the black sphere into the Universal Space. This black sphere, a life-saving sacred artifact, had proven its value and could not afford to be mishandled.
Upon checking the time, Yan Fei found he had been unconscious for just over forty minutes and now it was 11:30 pm Paris time. He then activated the Drone’s Quantum Radar to scan the situation above the river and immediately became aware of the predicament he was in.
The Drone Avatar was caught in a steel cable trawl net released by a huge warship on the surface and was being dragged up to the surface. And on the riverbank nearby, a large number of American soldiers had gathered, controlling various heavy weapons aimed at the river. Despite that, outside it was still thundering and pouring down, a scene resembling the end of the world.
Before losing consciousness, Yan Fei had only instructed the Auxiliary Brain to submerge one kilometer upstream and then lie in ambush on the riverbed, after which he passed out. Unexpectedly, during this time, the Drone Avatar was discovered by a warship and caught in its trawl net. Since the Drone Avatar had not received any commands from him, it just stayed on the riverbed, allowing the warship above to trawl and capture it.
Yan Fei had just regained consciousness and didn’t yet know what exactly had happened while he was out. He was still in fear of the sniper who had attacked him; in front of that sniper, he felt as defenseless as an infant, without any power to retaliate. This had once again overturned his perspective on the comparative strength between martial artists and individual firearms. However, he was now safe within the Drone Cockpit, protected by the Drone Body, out of reach of the sniper’s threat.
As soon as Yan Fei understood the situation facing the Drone and himself, he immediately controlled the Drone to submerge downstream in the Seine River. The Drone had formidable underwater capabilities, but it was up against a Perry-class Frigate, and the steel cable net was extremely solid—so the Drone failed to break free from the net’s entanglement.
