For instance, the mausoleum of the First Emperor is one such marvel.
On a train traveling from Xuanjing City toward Safe Haven.
Tang Zhong gazed out the window. He had already grasped the gist of the mission. The briefing document didn’t contain much information—only that a large number of raw stones had surfaced in the underground imperial mausoleum. Seemingly straightforward, yet far from simple. After all, if it were truly a routine matter, why would Azure Dragon be involved?
Azure Dragon, a figure listed on the Black List, is one of the four protectors of the Dragon Group. If he’s heading over, it can only mean significant trouble brewing in the underground mausoleum.
Soon after, the train arrived at Safe Haven’s station.
Tang Zhong exited the station.
He immediately spotted the vehicle awaiting him outside.
Dragon Group’s vehicles are designed to be inconspicuous, invisible to the ordinary eye—but to members of the Dragon Group, they’re as obvious as day.
Approaching a gold-colored car, he noticed several soldier-like figures waiting nearby, all dressed in civilian attire.
These were members of Safe Haven’s Dragon Group division.
Yet it was clear from their actions that these soldiers were well-organized.
A few of them were clustered around a young soldier.
This particular soldier lacked the tough, imposing demeanor of the others—in fact, he came off more like a playboy.
At the moment, he stood in the middle of the group, cigarette dangling from his lip!
The others surrounding him seemed intent on currying favor with this soldier.
"Brother Liu, who are we waiting for here?"
The young man, referred to as Brother Liu, was Liu Zuo, son of a prominent Dragon Group officer stationed in Safe Haven. Hearing the question, he smirked mysteriously, "No idea!"
"No idea? Impossible! Your father is an officer in the Dragon Group. How could you not know? Word is, the person coming from Xuanjing City is quite remarkable!" someone chimed in.
Liu Zuo couldn’t care less. He replied, "Are your brains fried? The talk isn’t about all people from Xuanjing City being exceptional. The point is, we need to analyze a few things. Let me teach you!"
The others leaned in eagerly. As the division leader’s son, Liu Zuo undoubtedly knew more than they did.
"Think for a second. How do big shots usually travel to other locations?" Liu Zuo asked.
At his words, the group began pondering aloud.
"Hmm... Probably by private helicopter!"
"Right! Definitely flown in on their own jet!"
"At the very least, escorted in a luxury car!"
The group debated enthusiastically.
"Exactly!" Liu Zuo agreed emphatically. "You know Azure Dragon, right? The one among the Dragon Group’s four protectors?"
Merely hearing the name lit up the eyes of those gathered around.
"Of course, we’ve heard of him!"
"Let me tell you—when that officer arrived, my father personally picked him up. You wouldn’t believe the fanfare! He was flown in aboard a colossal azure dragon-like aircraft!" Liu Zuo boasted.
The group’s eyes gleamed even brighter.
"But now, think about the person supposedly coming from Xuanjing City. Look at how they arrived—by train... Do you really think this person could be important?" Liu Zuo’s gaze swept across the crowd as he finished.
The others readily chimed in agreement.
"Well then, there’s no need to worry. Just greet them briefly, then let’s head to the concert," Liu Zuo declared, taking a deep drag from his cigarette.
"Excuse me, is this the Dragon Group ride?"
Liu Zuo inhaled sharply on his cigarette, choking in surprise. He whipped around quickly, eyes landing on the speaker.
It was a young man standing ahead of him—none other than Tang Zhong. He had followed the instructions in the mission briefing to locate the Dragon Group’s vehicle.
But unexpectedly, the person he found smoking up front instantly knotted his brows.
"Who the hell are you?" Liu Zuo roared at Tang Zhong.
By now, he had more or less guessed that the man was the one dispatched from Xuanjing City. He had expected an older man, yet here stood someone his age. And Liu Zuo had never let other young men outshine him.
Determined to put this guy in his place, he prepared to deliver a solid dose of intimidation!
The surrounding crowd watched the two face off. Fully convinced of Liu Zuo’s words, they were certain this newcomer wasn’t anyone significant—after all, no major figure arrives by train.
Tang Zhong locked eyes with Liu Zuo, his brows knitting together immediately. "Are you smoking?"
Liu Zuo froze, glancing at the cigarette in his hand. "Yeah. What of it?"
"The mission rules forbid smoking during Dragon Group assignments," Tang Zhong replied.
"Is fetching you supposed to count as part of the mission?" Liu Zuo retorted.
"Nope," Tang Zhong answered flatly.
He had no interest in dealing with minor matters like these—his focus lay entirely on uncovering the secrets of the mausoleum and whatever was happening beneath Qin Shi Huang’s tomb.
"Then there you go!" Liu Zuo said, continuing to puff on his cigarette. He interpreted Tang Zhong’s attitude as backing down.
Seems guy from Xuanjing City was nothing but a pushover—this would be a breeze.
"Alright, get in the car!" Liu Zuo ordered smugly, acting as if he were in charge.
Tang Zhong followed him inside.
Settling into a seat by the window.
The others filed into the car one by one.
No one paid Tang Zhong any attention.
Not that he cared to strike up conversation.
The strength of Tang Zhong’s soul power allowed him to sense the disturbances underground. Something peculiar was stirring below, ready to break through the surface at any moment. He couldn’t shake the feeling of danger brewing beneath this ancient city of Safe Haven. No wonder Azure Dragon had been dispatched—this wasn’t just trouble; it was something monumental.
"Xu Fu... Xu Fu, please tell me you left some clues about the Sacrificial Clan," Tang Zhong murmured quietly to himself.
Time passed by unnoticed.
The golden car sped along its route.
Abruptly, the vehicle screeched to a halt.
Tang Zhong glanced out the window to find himself in an unfamiliar area lined with bars—clearly a nightlife district in Safe Haven. Up ahead, the streets thronged with people, as if some major event were underway.
"Get out," Liu Zuo called from the driver’s seat.
"This doesn’t look like the Dragon Group’s headquarters," Tang Zhong said.
"Of course not. This is a fun spot—didn’t you notice?" Liu Zuo replied.
"I need to get to the Dragon Group. It’s urgent," Tang Zhong said.
"You need to go? Then go yourself. Tonight’s Madina’s concert here in Safe Haven. We’re not missing it. Either get out, or we’re leaving you behind!" Liu Zuo said, throwing the car door open to step out.
Tang Zhong hesitated momentarily; the name Madina rang a bell—someone he hadn’t seen in ages. Perhaps... maybe he could afford to reunite tonight.
