"Wu Sister, wasn't it agreed that the debt would be repaid at the end of the year? The harvest hasn't been good this year, how can we possibly come up with the money right now?" There was a clear hint of panic in mother's voice.
"That's why, sister-in-law, the Yu family said that if your son marries into their family, they'll write off the debt. This is like a pie falling from the sky," Wu continued persistently to persuade.
"No, I can't let my son suffer such indignity," Lin Chen's mother refused decisively.
After listening to her mother's words, Wu suddenly chuckled coldly, "Having your son marry into their family is them looking up to you. With all the sickly burdens in your family, can Lin Chen even find a wife? I reckon he'll stay a bachelor for life."
Right after Wu, the matchmaker's words fell, Lin Chen pushed the door and walked in.
"Mother, I'm back," Lin Chen said with a stern face.
Seeing Lin Chen return, with a fashionable and pretty girl behind him, his mother was taken aback.
"Lin Chen, who is this girl behind you?"
