Most of the time, it ended with the monster self-destructing.
But no matter how many times it died, the beast would reappear after five or six hours, unscathed.
Neither side could do anything about the other.
Ji Xinghuo could only focus on harvesting Spiritual Origin Ability, treating the monster as if it were thin air.
He had thought about finding the reason for the energy monster’s immortality and killing it for good, searching through the city ruins several times, but to no avail, and so he gave up.
"Once I’ve cleared out the eaters of darkness, I’m out of here."
Ji Xinghuo made up his mind.
On the eleventh day, as he was searching for his target, he suddenly heard the sounds of battle coming from the other side of the ruins.
"Has someone come in?"
Ji Xinghuo stopped flying and entered invisibility.
He looked in the direction of the sound source, and although it was far away, he could tell from the faint noises that someone was engaged in a fierce battle with the eaters of darkness.
There were many entrances and exits to this ruin, and although it was hidden deep within the Eternal Darkness Rift Valley and very secluded, numerous hunters and mutants had found it over the past few centuries, though it was unknown how many had left alive.
Ji Xinghuo thought for a moment, then flew towards that direction.
He approached the site of the battle, hearing gunfire and explosions from several kilometers away. After entering the radius of electromagnetic induction, he stopped invisibly mid-air, looked down from above, and couldn’t help but feel surprised by what he saw.
Three people were fighting.
The most conspicuous was a mutant fully clad in power armor.
This silver and blue armor was extraordinarily powerful, almost two meters tall, with clean, flowing lines. There was a mini fusion reactor on the chest providing power for the armor’s engine. The transparent front of the helmet showed a handsome man with green eyes, whose extraordinary aura revealed his True Dragon Race identity.
The True Dragon, wearing power armor, hovered in mid-air.
He controlled eight electric flying swords through the air as if butterflies flitting through flowers, slicing and killing the distant eaters of darkness.
Four laser floating cannons hovered beside the True Dragon, their coordinated shots capable of blasting away an eater of darkness each time.
Every so often, he would fire a guided missile, bombing the enemy.
Ji Xinghuo’s eyes slightly narrowed.
This True Dragon was of Legendary Second Dan, equipped with luxurious gear. A blend of technology and ether, he possessed strength far exceeding his rank, making him the strongest Legendary Ji Xinghuo had ever seen.
Moreover, his profession was quite rare, at least unknown on Earth.
An advanced profession for Mechanics and kinetic Stringers; they craft weapons and armors with physical and ether technology. In the Star Realm, they use Spiritual Energy to power the armor, boasting both offense and defense, excelling at long-range firepower suppression.
The two teammates of the Star Armor Master were also Legendary powerhouses.
They were both female.
Though not human, with their light blue skin, a pair of horns on their foreheads, three jointed legs, black hooves, and tails growing from their hips, their curvaceous figures were extremely alluring, and their beautiful faces quite seductive.
Ji Xinghuo had seen this race in Titanium Ring City; they were Bredaso, an alien species.
Most importantly, they were a set of twin sisters.
One wore splendid light armor, swift as the wind, brandishing her long spear, rushing into the crowd of monsters, each thrust filled with immense and domineering strength, bearing the brunt of the most monsters yet remaining unscathed.
The other wielded two dull scimitars, her figure transparent as a soul, flitting in and out of the shadows, effortlessly reaping the lives of the eaters of darkness with a ghostly presence.
They were Divine Walker Warriors and Ghost Assassins.
One man and two women.
Ji Xinghuo discerned their relationship at a glance. Led by the True Dragon Star Armor Master, all three were of Legendary Second Dan, their coordination was seamless, and even surrounded by hundreds of eaters of darkness, they were unstoppable.
With their strength, they could roam freely among the city ruins.
Unless they were targeted by that energy monster.
Ji Xinghuo quietly watched them hunting the eaters of darkness. Close enough, he could absorb the Spiritual Origin Ability when the eaters were slain.
Notification messages kept popping up.
Others were hunting for him, and he was happy to take it easy.
Suddenly, Ji Xinghuo felt something, his gaze shifting from the trio in battle to a shadow behind them.
The energy monster had arrived!
While he was still considering whether to warn the three, it made its move. It leaped directly from the shadows, raising its arms to create an extensive blanket of darkness, enveloping the Star Armor Master’s trio and the eaters of darkness within it.
