Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours! Chapter 5

Raina Lowell crouched down, pulling her two little ones over, giving each a kiss on the cheek, and said softly as she stroked their little heads:

"Listen to the auntie at home. Mommy will resign from work in a few days and will be with you every day from now on."

Now that the divorce was finalized, she no longer needed to hide.

She will have all the time in the world to be with her children.

She just hoped that when she visited Grandpa at the old mansion today to discuss the divorce, he would support her.

The two little ones, quite understanding for their age, nodded in agreement and waved to say goodbye to their mother.

Raina Lowell closed the door and turned to head toward the elevator.

She hadn’t noticed that behind the door of the safety passage, someone was standing there.

A man clenched his fist, making a crackling sound.

His handsome and stern face had become extremely dark with rage.

If he hadn’t heard the two children call Raina mom.

He would have not believed that Raina Lowell secretly had two children outside.

Adrian Grant still didn’t want to accept that those two children were indeed born by Raina.

Once back in the car, he instructed Caleb Landon not only to conduct a DNA test on the children and Raina Lowell but also to find out who the children’s father was.

Only with solid evidence would he confront Raina Lowell face to face.

Raina Lowell returned to the old mansion, and the housekeeper greeted her with great respect.

"Young Madam, you came alone? Didn’t Master come with you?"

Raina Lowell responded with a soft "Mm," and said, "He went to the office."

Then she asked the housekeeper, "Is Grandpa at home?"

"The old master’s been unwell recently, the doctor’s been giving him IV treatments."

Upon hearing this, Raina Lowell’s face was full of worry as she quickly walked towards the elderly man’s room.

"What’s wrong with Grandpa? Wasn’t he doing just fine before?"

The housekeeper sighed, "The old master’s health has been poor for a long time; only when you returned did his spirits brighten, leading to a period of improvement."

"It seems he couldn’t hold on any longer. Young Madam, if you have time, spend more with the old master. What he worries about most is you."

Upon hearing this, Raina Lowell felt a sharp pain in her heart.

She knows well that Grandpa cares for her the most.

If it weren’t for him passing away when she was 15 and entrusting her to Grandpa Grant,

she wouldn’t have been brought to be raised by the Grant Family for five years.

During those five years, Raina Lowell felt Grandpa Grant was just like her biological grandfather, always giving her the best of everything.

Even four years ago when she had an incident and chose to go abroad, Grandpa Grant arranged everything for her and sent her a monthly allowance.

She had already lost one grandfather who doted on her; she couldn’t bear losing another.

Raina Lowell rushed into the elderly man’s room.

Seeing the doctor administering the IV, she asked worriedly:

"Grandpa, are you alright?"

The old man was over eighty now, white-haired and frail, looking like he could pass away at any moment.

When he saw Raina Lowell, he managed a forced smile:

"I’m alright. Why are you here now? Shouldn’t you be at work?"

Raina Lowell sat down by the bedside, looking at the grandfather’s thin, frail frame, her heart aching.

"If you’re not well, why didn’t you tell us so I could come accompany you?"

The old man continued to smile telling her not to worry.

He wouldn’t be dying just yet.

Raina Lowell noticed the serious expression on the doctor’s face and knew the grandfather’s condition wasn’t good.

The original intention to discuss the divorce was swallowed back in her throat.

Raina Lowell remained by the bedside with the elderly man.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that she returned to Stardust Bay.

But on the way back, Adrian Grant’s call came through.

He said, "Come back, the divorce agreement needs to be re-drafted."

Raina Lowell really thought it was because the divorce agreement she drafted was unsatisfactory to him, so she obediently turned to return to Lowell Manor.

It happened to be mealtime when she arrived, and Madam Cole had prepared a table full of dishes.

As the door opened, Madam Cole saw her and sympathetically advised:

"Madam, speak properly with Master, he’s not an unreasonable man. You’ve only been married a year, you can’t just end it like that."

Madam Cole had been with them since they married.

It was said that this luxurious mansion, Lowell Manor, was a wedding gift that Master prepared for Madam.

It was their marital home.

Over the year, Madam Cole had witnessed them together.

Though they were courteous and not overly affectionate like typical couples, they never quarreled or had disagreements.

So perhaps slowly living life wasn’t bad.

Why suddenly would they talk about divorce? Madam Cole was genuinely worried for them.

Raina Lowell didn’t say much and changed her shoes to go inside.

She saw Adrian Grant sitting again in the dining room.

This man seemed to be coming home earlier and earlier these days.

He was still in his waistcoat and shirt.

Sitting there with an air of nonchalance, he appeared noble and composed, pleasing to the eye.

Raina Lowell held her breath as she walked over.

She didn’t know why, but her heart was somewhat uneasy.

She sat down, timidly avoiding eye contact with him, and said softly:

"What issue is there with the agreement?"

Adrian Grant looked at her.

Seeing the petite woman not daring to even look directly at him, he couldn’t tell if she was feeling guilty or genuinely fearful of him.

Was he really that scary?

Hasn’t a year of marriage proven that he genuinely wants to build a life together with her?

Adrian Grant refrained from bringing up the children, suppressing his discomfort and trying to speak to her as calmly as possible.

"This year, I believe I have fulfilled my duties as a husband, so why do you want a divorce?"

He hoped she would be honest with him.

Otherwise, once he had the DNA results, the consequences might be unbearable for her.

Raina Lowell couldn’t understand what this older man meant.

Wasn’t she called back to discuss the divorce agreement? Why ask this now?

Besides, it wasn’t as if she hadn’t told him before.

Nervously poking at the rice in her bowl with her chopsticks to hide her anxiety, she spoke a false truth:

"You love Isabelle Everett, I want you two to be happy."

"Have I ever told you that I love Isabelle Everett?"

Adrian Grant countered.

Raina Lowell was stunned and looked up at him.

"You don’t love her? Then why did you break off our engagement for her, hold a birthday party for her a few days ago, and even kiss her publicly?"

If he hadn’t loved Isabelle Everett, why did he reject her from the start?

How could someone he didn’t love kiss someone else?

Raina Lowell constantly reminded herself to stay clear-headed.

Not to fall for this man’s casual remarks.

She had borne someone else’s children.

This lifetime, she could never have a future with this older man.

And Adrian Grant surely wouldn’t be able to accept her past.

Seeing Raina Lowell continue using Isabelle Everett as an excuse, without mentioning the two children outside,

Adrian Grant became a bit angry.

"So this divorce is my fault? Have you not had someone you like outside?"

He was still giving her the chance, hoping she would honestly confess.

Otherwise, he would ensure she paid the price.

Raina Lowell bowed her head again and denied in one breath:

"I’m not like you, capable of harboring feelings for someone else while marrying me. Since we’re here to discuss the divorce agreement, let’s get to it!" Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs N0veI.Fiɾe.net
