Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours! Chapter 73

Adrian Grant truly couldn’t stand to see them, mother and child, anymore.

Turning around, he tossed out, "Then just kneel there for me. Without my permission, if you dare get up, you can forget about seeing your daughter ever again in this lifetime."

He strode into the house.

Raina Lowell was still kneeling, holding her son, checking if he had fallen.

Evelyn pouted, beginning to cry, heart aching.

"Mommy, I’m fine. Please don’t kneel here, okay? Let’s leave. We don’t want to stay here and be bullied by him."

Had he known this Uncle Adrian was so bad, he would have never let Sinclair Dad send Mommy over.

At least beside Sinclair Dad, both he and Mommy were cared for.

Raina Lowell felt she was nearing her limit, her headache splitting, her vision blurred.

She held her son close, her voice weak, soothing him:

"Evelyn, Mommy made a mistake, and needs to kneel here to apologize to Uncle Adrian. Besides, Uncle Adrian found your sister; only by kneeling here will he return her to us."

"Don’t worry about me. Go inside and rest, okay?"

Evelyn shook his head, seeing Mommy drenched, pale-faced, struggling to speak.

Tears fell in large drops as he felt heartbroken.

"I don’t want to leave Mommy. I want to be with her forever."

He raised his arms, wrapping them around Mommy’s neck, unwilling to part from her.

Yet Raina Lowell forcibly pushed him away.

"Evelyn, Mommy’s wet. Please go inside, listen."

"No, Mommy, you’re sick. You can’t keep kneeling here, it’ll kill you."

Unable to resist, Evelyn moved closer to Mommy again, checking her pulse on her wrist.

Feeling her breath growing weaker, he wanted to cradle Mommy again.

But once more she pushed him away.

Raina Lowell grew somewhat angry, using all her strength to feign sternness:

"Evelyn, listen to Mommy, go inside."

At this moment, Madam Cole rushed out, pulling Evelyn along, teaching him:

"Evelyn, listen to your mother. Let’s go inside first. You should plead with Daddy; maybe he’ll relent and let your mommy into the house."

"He’s not my Daddy. He’s not fit to be."

Evelyn angrily corrected Madam Cole’s words.

Thinking only Uncle Adrian’s agreement would let Mommy come in.

He wiped away tears from his cheeks and turned to run inside.

Seeing no Uncle Adrian in the living room, he went upstairs to search.

In the study, he found him, his earlier defiance gone, kneeling in front of Adrian Grant with a heartbreaking cry.

"Uncle Adrian, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have insulted you."

"I beg you, let my mommy get up. She’s sick, she can’t hold on much longer. I can kneel in her place."

Adrian Grant glanced at the child by his legs.

Hard to imagine, such an understanding child is only two?

A two-year-old could understand this?

Clearly, he was easily moved, easily softened.

But remembering the child was not his, he couldn’t heal the wounds in his heart.

Finally, still with a stern face, heartless and cold, he said:

"Your mother deserves to die. If you want to stay with her, you can go outside and kneel together."

What was there to feel sorry for in another’s child?

Seeing that his words couldn’t sway him, Evelyn, suppressing the heartache over his mother, continued to kneel and plead with Adrian Grant.

"I beg you, Uncle Adrian, just let my mommy get up. I’ll listen to anything you say from now on."

"If Mommy keeps kneeling, she’ll die. When she had an accident before, and couldn’t come back, weren’t you sad too?"

"Why, when Mommy barely came back, do you treat her ?"

"Uncle Adrian, I beg you."

His little head kept thumping onto the floorboards, a heartbreaking sight.

Adrian Grant couldn’t help but soften his heart, reminding the child:

"Remember, this is what you promised — you’ll listen to me for anything."

Evelyn lifted his head, his forehead was already scraped raw, swollen and bleeding.

His sparkling eyes brimmed with tears.

"Yes, I’ll listen to Uncle Adrian for anything from now on, as long as you don’t hurt my mommy."

Adrian Grant watched him bleeding, feeling a bit guilty, gesturing with his hand:

"Go and let your mom into the house."

Evelyn responded with an ’mm’, got up to run, but felt dizzy from the head bump.

He stumbled, nearly falling, but forced himself to run out of the study.

Watching him about to trip, Adrian Grant instinctively wanted to go support him.

But seeing the child steadied his way outside, he sat back in his chair, feeling uneasy inside.

Sometimes he thought, if only Raina had given birth to his two children — how wonderful that would be.

Then their family of four could live happily together forever.

Even though the children weren’t his, he could persuade himself to accept them.

Yet, Raina loved the children’s father in her heart.

Even without divorce, she repeatedly sought the children’s father.

Even enraging Grandpa to death.

Such spiteful deeds — how could he forgive?

Adrian Grant leaned back in his chair, discomfort furrowing his brows, sometimes unsure what to do with this mother and her three kids.

Raina Lowell eventually passed out.

Evelyn and Madam Cole took much effort to get her to the first-floor servant’s quarters.

While holding his mother’s pulse, Evelyn looked at Madam Cole, asking her to prepare the necessary medicine.

Madam Cole hurried to attend.

Yet fearing the child’s ignorance delaying treatment, she quickly hurried to the study, bowing to report:

"Sir, Madam has fainted, burning up like she’s on fire. Shouldn’t you call Dr. Shane over?" Follow current novels on nοvelfire.net

Adrian Grant picked up the phone to make the call, something dawned on him, and he coldly said:

"Can’t you call him yourself?"

Realizing it, Madam Cole hurriedly took Adrian Grant’s phone, looking at the number while dialing from her own phone.

Adrian Grant sat there asking, "Has she come inside or is she still outside?"

Madam Cole quickly replied, "I carried her inside, she’s in my room."

Only then did Adrian Grant remain seated, pretending indifference while instructing:

"When she wakes, have her do the same work as yours. Also, don’t call her Madam anymore, as I will soon divorce her."

Though she found it a pity, being a servant, she dared not say anything.

She then lowered her head and withdrew.

Just as Madam Cole walked away, Isabelle Everett pushed the door open and entered.

She approached Adrian Grant, asking outrightly:

"Adrian, are you still going to let Raina stay?"

Adrian Grant glanced at the documents on the table, diverting his thoughts, without answering Isabelle’s question.

Isabelle stood by, her voice carrying a hint of sob.

"Adrian, my mom just called me again, asking me to marry the Peyton Family’s young master."

"You know how traditional the Peyton Family is. If they find out I’m not a virgin, even my parents, if they knew, they’d surely beat me to death."

Adrian Grant looked at her, "What age is it now? Who still cares about that."

He, for one, didn’t care.

Even Raina Lowell having kids with someone else — he didn’t mind.

Even thinking of being a stepfather to the children.

Yet that woman — she wouldn’t accept.

"Maybe if I were the true heiress of The Everett Family, indeed my parents wouldn’t care."

Isabelle lowered her head, wiping tears, sobbing, "But you know, I’m only an adopted daughter of The Everett Family, just a tool for alliances."
