An oppressive atmosphere settled over the area before the fortress even came into view. The adventurers broke into cold sweats, their nerves fraying at the thought of the battle ahead.
The fate of all Axel hung in the balance — neither victory nor survival was guaranteed.
"Adventurers and villagers! The Mobile Fortress Destroyer approaches! Town residents, follow Mr. Kyōya Mitsurugi and evacuate Axel immediately! To our brave adventurers, we entrust you with protecting the Beginner's Village!"
The guild's announcement rang throughout Axel, coordinating the civilians' evacuation while rallying the adventurers for battle.
Though the broadcast maintained its composure, the hearts of those who heard it were anything but calm.
"It's alright, I'm here."
Though her gauntlet partially concealed it, Darkness's fear was evident, and Adam, knowing her well, understood the source of her anxiety.
His gentle reassurance, brimming with infectious confidence, melted away her fears. Those few words were enough to mirror his confidence in her expression.
She didn't believe in herself; she believed in the man standing beside her. From the start, he had been her steadfast Party leader, never once letting her down.
The warmth of his grip gave her immense courage, gradually steadying her trembling heart.
Then, with a thunderous rumbling, the Mobile Fortress Destroyer's massive eight legs strode over mountains, its towering figure materializing before them.

Despite its almost comical name, this fortress — as large as a small castle — brushed aside the adventurers' traps and magic circles, crushing everything beneath it with deafening force...

The adventurers' spirits crumbled before the battle — the Destroyer's colossal form loomed over them, its eight terrifying legs crushing their will to resist.

Though others might have seen his protection as excessive, it filled Darkness's heart with joy.
