"It’s Mo Dan... your husband!"
Yan Mei’s words seemed to have hit Lin Xu like a rock as she stood still, her face frozen.
"H-husband? W-wha... what husband?"
"Which other husband do you have? If not Mo Ying then who?" Yan Mei sighed as she took hold of Lin Xu’s arm.
"He’s outside, as we speak... c’mon!"
Yan Mei dragged her out of the kitchen and into the courtyard. As soon as Lin Xu stepped out, she saw a tall, handsome man with long black hair tied neatly behind him. His brown robe fit perfectly, and his presence was calm yet commanding.
Lin Xu was still puzzled. If she remembered correctly from the TV show, the male lead had returned years later after Lin Xu had passed away, so why the heck was he here so early? And why did he look so good?
"Susu!" She summoned and immediately everything and everyone paused.
[ You summoned, Host! ]
"Susu, what exactly is going on here... why is Mo Dan here all of a sudden? Isn’t he supposed to come back years later... what’s going on?"
[ Well, Host, unfortunately I don’t know the answer to that question. Concerning how the plot has drastically changed, it would be the fault of the Host! ]
Lin Xu raised her brows in confusion. "My fault?! How the heck is it my fault?"
[ The host being alive alone changed the plot. The host saving another character from death alone changed the plot. The host exacting revenge on her in-laws alone changed the plot. Everything you do changes the plot, and when the plot changes the characters also change; the ending changes as well. ]
"So you are telling me that because of me the entire story has changed, so the male lead won’t be with the female lead and leave happily ever after with my kids?"

She faced Susu. "You can go now!"
[ Good luck, Host, but do remember that although the plot may have changed, the male lead is still a very significant character and he is still capable of shaking the plot. Bye bye. ]
With that, Susu disappeared and everything went back to normal.
Smiling, Mo Dan walked towards Lin Xu. "Long time no see, Lin Xu."
His voice was cheerful and soothing, and Lin Xu felt her heart being hit by arrows.
She guessed this was the main character syndrome she used to read about. This was when the main character, no matter where they are or who they meet, happens to charm people with their appearance, words, and actions.
He then faced the kids who were standing, their eyes glued to him. He bent down to their level and stroked Mo Yuen’s head. "So you gave birth to three at once... impressive. What beautiful children."
He smiled softly before standing up and facing Lin Xu once again. Seeing where the situation was leading, Yan Mei called out to the kids, "C’mon you guys, it’s time for bed... off we go."
"Awwn... we have a guest over, can’t we stay up a little more?" Mo Yuen muttered.
But Yan Mei refused and led them into their room. Meanwhile, Mo Ying stopped her midway as he and Fuhan both came out from the room.
Seeing a man standing in front of Lin Xu, Mo Ying’s brows furrowed slightly as he asked, "Yan Mei... who’s that? And why’s he here at this time of day?"
Hearing that, Yan Mei hesitated slightly. After all, how was she supposed to inform Mo Ying that the man with Lin Xu was her ex-husband who had disappeared for eight years?
She knew well that he wouldn’t be the slightest bit happy about that.
"Umm... w-well... that is Mo Dan... Lin Xu’s husband who left eight years ago," Yan Mei revealed as she immediately held the kids and carried them inside before she met Mo Ying’s eyes.
She wasn’t in the mood for drama tonight; she was so tired.
Meanwhile, upon hearing her words Mo Ying was totally shocked, and he turned around to look at Lin Xu and Mo Dan.
"Young master, it seems Miss Lin’s husband has returned. Does this mean she won’t need a fake husband anymore?" Fuhan asked as he tried to read Mo Ying, but his expression was unreadable.
"Let’s go..." Mo Ying turned around and Fuhan followed behind him.
With the kids gone, Lin Xu extended her hands toward the bench.
"You can take a seat..." she gestured with her hands toward the bench as Mo Dan nodded and immediately took a seat.
Lin Xu sat opposite him as the two of them stared at each other. Lin Xu had no expression on.
Was she angry? HECK YES!
Though she had no personal relationship with Mo Dan anymore, he was the former Lin Xu’s husband.
The fact he had just married her, slept with her, and disappeared was the exact action of a complete scum. He just had a pretty face doing it.
Now he was back. Why? What did he want? Her? Well he must be dreaming because she wasn’t going back to him even if he begged her for a thousand years.
"The kids have grown... you really raised them well, that’s good... I always knew you were a good mother."
"Hmm... Why are you back?" Lin Xu went straight to the point.
"Well... I found out my aunt and uncle had both been arrested. So I came back to find out what actually occurred. I’m so very sorry for what has happened. I never knew my aunt and uncle were this wicked. I decided not to ask for their bail; they should go through their sentence. They deserve it."
Mo Dan said, and Lin Xu at this point couldn’t handle it anymore.
Folding her hands, she shouted, "You really have the audacity, don’t you? I don’t care if you’re the male lead or not... I won’t let you leave this house until you beg to death. Who the heck do you think you are to come into my house after abandoning me and my kids for eight years... talking to me like nothing ever happened, huh?"
