Surviving the Apocalypse: All I Want Is to Find a Husband Chapter 119

"Because of that, a lot of women tried to win his heart, but none of them succeeded," Seraphina sighed. "We thought he didn’t like girls at all, but now ... I can see he does like girls, just one girl, though."

Medeia blinked a few times and quickly averted her gaze to the other side. She coughed. "Maybe he was just too focused on his career back then."

Or maybe he was just as pure as a priest! Medeia thought to herself, but then immediately shook her head. After spending a night with him, she knew for a fact he was definitely not as pure as a priest!

"Maybe," Seraphina replied, patting her shoulder. "But who cares about the past? The important thing is that he looks happier now, with you." She smiled warmly. "That’s why I hope you won’t hurt our little angel’s feelings."

Little angel? Medeia nearly snorted. Their so-called "little angel" was secretly a devil in disguise. Everyone in the base had been terrified of him ever since he started training them.

"I won’t," Medeia said firmly. "I promise."

Even though Medeia didn’t openly say that she loved him, Seraphina could see it. Both of them were so deeply in love that words weren’t needed to prove it.

"Well," Medeia said, steering the conversation in another direction, "it looks like you have enough thick jackets here. I’ll ask someone to bring blankets for you. And if you feel sick, you can head to the medical bay. We have doctors on-site."

Medeia explained all the facilities available at the base to Seraphina, making the woman think that the Red Star was so perfect she didn’t want to leave anymore after spending just one day there.

When the sun had set, Sister Jeanne called everyone to have dinner in the first-floor hall. However, Medeia didn’t go there right away and returned to her tent instead.

She saw Lucian trying to dry his wet hair. Water dripped from his hair to his neck, then down to his white shirt.

Medeia couldn’t help but swallow hard. How could someone be so effortlessly handsome and sexy?

Lucian noticed her presence and looked up, a small smile forming on his lips. "Hey," he greeted. "You’re not joining the others for dinner?"

Medeia walked into the makeshift quarter, then sat on the bed. "I will. I just wanted to check if you were going."

Lucian chuckled, running a hand through his damp hair. "I’ll go in a bit. I need to dry my hair first."

Medeia held her breath as she noticed the water droplets clinging to the fabric of his shirt, making it slightly transparent.

Was he planning to go to dinner or planning to be Medeia’s dinner?

"Your shirt will get wet again if you dry your hair after getting dressed," Medeia tapped her leg on the floor beneath her. "Sit here and take off your shirt."

Lucian obediently did as she said, sitting on the floor while Medeia sat on the bed behind him. When he took off his shirt, Medeia grabbed the towel and began drying his damp hair.

She smiled faintly because Lucian looked like a wet dog. His golden hair felt so soft and fluffy, making Medeia couldn’t help but brush it with her fingers.

"Lucian," Medeia called him softly. "When I helped Phina unpack her bag, I saw your picture in the magazine."

Lucian leaned back against Medeia and tilted his head up. "Really? I can’t believe she still has those old magazines." He smiled, showing no intention of hiding his past. "What do you think? Was I handsome when I was young?"

"What do you mean?" Medeia lowered her head to place a soft kiss on his forehead. "You’re handsome no matter what age you are. But yeah, your younger self did look different. I almost didn’t recognize you."

It made sense that his face looked so different. Before the apocalypse, he had been a famous athlete and model, so naturally, he had taken exceptional care of his appearance with countless skincare products and beauty routines.

However, that didn’t mean his current face looked any less stunning. Like she said, his handsomeness wouldn’t fade, even now that he was in his thirties. Except for a few faint wrinkles near his eyes, he was still perfect.

"But the most important thing is, you must have had a lot of money back then, right?" Medeia hugged him tightly, burying her face in his neck. "What a shame. I could’ve bought anything I wanted if this world hadn’t fallen apart."

Lucian paused for a moment, then gently stroked her hair. "I can still give you whatever you want, even if I don’t have money anymore," he said, his tone serious. "Don’t be sad."

Medeia growled inwardly. How could someone act so adorable and endearing?

"Lucian, I will stay with you no matter what," she said softly. "But ... can I ask you a favor?"

"What is it, love?" he asked, turning his head slightly to look at her.

He really needed to stop calling her that before she ended up having a heart attack.

"Do you know where I can find a mammoth mutant?" Medeia asked hesitantly.

Lucian turned around to face her more comfortably. "Why do you want to find a mutant mammoth? Do you need something from it?"

Medeia averted her gaze, debating whether she should tell him that she needed to make a blanket from the mammoth’s fur. But wasn’t that such a strange thing to say? They could find other blankets, so why go after something as difficult as mammoth fur?

"You can’t tell me, can you?" Lucian asked, raising an eyebrow at her hesitation.

Medeia hugged Lucian tighter and hummed. "I’m sorry."

Medeia wondered how long Lucian would keep accepting her tendency to keep so many things a secret. Why didn’t he ever seem suspicious or curious? Or maybe ... maybe he knew about the system?

No, that didn’t sound logical.

But what if it was the truth?
