"Really?" Cheng Yue cocked his head and glanced at Zhang Chaoqian, "I think you’re the one who wants that maple leaf."
"Hehe!" Zhang Chaoqian, his thought process seen through, couldn’t help but chuckle, "You tell me, Sister Yu, she treasurers those maple leaves like precious gems. Would it kill her to give me a couple?"
"If you’ve got the guts, go ask her for them!"
"Look at you, no ambition at all." Cheng Yue couldn’t be bothered with him, bent his head down, and briskly wrote a letter. He then sealed the envelope with glue, affixed a stamp, and handed it to Zhang Chaoqian, "Go mail this!"
"Making me mail letters again! I won’t do it!" It was raining and chilly—who would want to go out in that?
"Fine! Next month’s beef ration is off for you," Cheng Yue said as he picked up the letter and headed outside.

After reading her reply, he heaved a long sigh.
"What did Sister Yu say?" Zhang Chaoqian leaned over, wanting to peek, because only Sister Yu could deal with this unruly rascal, Cheng Yue.
Cheng Yue didn’t mind him looking, after all, they were buddies who had grown up together bare-butted, sharing all their secrets.
