"What’s it to you whether it’s a man or a woman?" Yan Ye shot him a cold look, "Besides attending classes, you’d better focus all your attention on the research. If I catch you entertaining any more of those messy thoughts, you’ll have me to answer to."
"Boss Yan, you might have resigned yourself to bachelorhood for life, but that’s not the plan for us guys," Zhang Chao Qian interjected.
"Oh really? How about I let you leave now? Then you can date to your heart’s content?" Yan Ye’s brows knitted as his lips thinned into a line, clearly indicating his dissatisfaction.
Yan Ye had graduated from a prestigious Medical University, went abroad for further studies, and earned a Ph.D. in Medicine from Stanford University.
By chance, he was poached by the president of Military Medical University, joined the military, and became a teacher.
Over the years, he studied clinical medicine abroad, working under a mentor in cardiac surgery, while also serving as a cardiac surgeon. After returning to China, he began teaching at Military Medical University and worked at the affiliated hospital.
After performing several complex heart bypass surgeries for the military leaders, Yan Ye’s name became known throughout Nancheng City overnight.
Later, during surgery, he realized that heart surgeries required long incisions on the chest, which meant long wounds and a lot of blood loss. The term ’minimally invasive’ was starting to be used internationally, and he thought that if minimally invasive surgery could be performed, it would significantly reduce the patients’ operation.
So, he chose a topic and applied to his superiors for approval.
Soon, his project was approved, and the funds were allocated.
The research team for this project consisted of about twenty to thirty members, including five professors, three associate professors, several master’s students—all reported to the state.
Among the students he had selected at his discretion, his goal was to have them join the research project for learning.
He also proposed a modification to a drug, hoping that through learning, they could grow rapidly and become stronger.
Research isn’t something that yields results in a short time, but naturally, he was anxious about not seeing results as soon as expected.
Other doctoral students from different disciplines at the university also submitted their projects. After the New Year, the university hoped to establish a dedicated research building for them. Yan Ye hoped to achieve results sooner to repay the university and also wished to apply the research to surgery at the earliest opportunity.
