Sheng Ning’an couldn’t help but think of her Young Uncle.
"Is this how all of you who do scientific research are?" she looked toward Xu Weiran and asked.
Xu Weiran raised an eyebrow, "How what?"
Sheng Ning’an, "Like having nothing in your head but experiments?"
Xu Weiran, "Why would you think that?"
"Isn’t that so?" Sheng Ning’an retorted.
Her Young Uncle was always immersed in the laboratory, and this guy was the same, even putting off romance for the sake of his experiments.
Xu Weiran smiled and said, "Indeed, to researchers, science is the top priority, but there are exceptions."
"What exceptions?" Sheng Ning’an pressed.
Xu Weiran smiled, then raised his hand and tapped her forehead, saying, "Not telling you!"
"Speak or don’t, but were you also lying to me when you said you were saving up for a wife?"
Xu Weiran hooked the corner of his mouth, his smile carefree and casual, "Even though I, your brother, am not thinking of getting married right now, it doesn’t hurt to save more in the wife fund. After all, you only get married once; of course, I have to give the best to the person I like."
"Tsk, who’d have thought you’re quite the romantic." Too bad his wife has no idea where she is; setting up his persona now seems a tad early.
Xu Weiran continued with a hooked lip, "Naturally, when you bring a wife home, you have to treat her well; otherwise, it’s better not to marry at all. When looking for a boyfriend in the future, remember to find someone like your brother, okay? If a man is reluctant to spend money even on marrying you, he will likely not treat you well later on. If you come across such a man, run fast and don’t look back." Then he grandly raised an eyebrow, "Today, you helped your brother out, so this meal is on me, order whatever you want."
"Then I won’t be polite!" Since he doesn’t have a wife yet, it doesn’t matter if a bit of the wife fund gets spent.
Sheng Ning’an promptly ordered a pile of food and didn’t forget to take a portion to go when leaving, truly taking his offer at face value.
Coming out of the restaurant, Xu Weiran pulled out his car keys and said, "Where to? Your brother will drop you off!"
Sheng Ning’an, "To your laboratory, if that’s okay?"
"Let’s go!" Xu Weiran opened the passenger door, watched her get into the car, then closed the door before walking around to the driver’s seat.
"The takeaway you just packed isn’t for your Young Uncle, is it?" Xu Weiran glanced at the takeaway box beside her, started the car, and spoke up.
"Right! My Young Uncle probably hasn’t eaten yet; it’ll be just right to bring it to him." Sheng Ning’an bent her lips into a smile.
Xu Weiran slightly raised an eyebrow, "Your relationship with your uncle seems quite good?" It’s a pity he didn’t have such an elder niece, or even siblings, to experience their kind of bond.
Sheng Annin, "Of course! My relationship with my Young Uncle has always been the best since I was young."
Xu Weiran, "I really couldn’t tell."
"What do you mean by that?" Sheng Annin glared at him, feeling that the man was mocking her.
Xu Weiran said, "Your Young Uncle, normally so cold and aloof, comes across like an emotionless machine. I simply can’t imagine what his being good to someone looks like."
Sheng Annin couldn’t help but speak in defense of her Young Uncle, "My Young Uncle just doesn’t like to talk, but he really cherishes me a lot. Ever since I was young, he’s been my favorite."
Indeed, the fact that man asked him for help twice showed he had a different place in his heart for this young girl.
