Sheng Ning’an’s eyes couldn’t help but gleam, and before Xu Weiran could open his mouth to stop him, he already had a second and third sip.
"Drink less, this is spiked with spirits, and it gets you drunk faster than beer," Xu Weiran couldn’t help but warn.
"Got it!" Sheng Ning’an verbally agreed but didn’t actually drink any less.
By the time Xu Weiran realized something was wrong, the girl had already finished the whole bottle.
Her cheeks were slightly flushed, and her big eyes were watery and bright.
Xu Weiran took the empty bottle from her hand and said, "You’ve had too much, let me take you back?"
"No need, I’ll call my Young Uncle; he’ll come to pick me up." Sheng Ning’an took out her phone, although she tried several times, she kept missing the numbers.
Finally, Xu Weiran took her phone and said, "Let me help you!"
"Okay!" Sheng Ning’an gave him a slight smile and then leaned close to his ear, "The password is..."
Her light breath brushed past the back of his ear.
As the girl leaned into him, Xu Weiran smelled a faint white peach scent on her, along with a sweet, indescribable aroma.
Xu Weiran’s heartbeat paused inexplicably, and even his breathing unconsciously slowed.
"Why aren’t you pressing it?" Sheng Ning’an looked up at him with her big, watery eyes filled with confusion, and as she lifted her head, the sweet fragrance became more pronounced.
"Just a moment," Xu Weiran quickly gathered his thoughts and then entered the few numbers she had just spoken into the phone screen.
The phone unlocked successfully.
Xu Weiran found Sheng Yeli’s number, and just as he was about to dial, the phone rang ahead of him.
The caller ID showed it was Sheng Yeli.
Meanwhile, Tang Dou, who had been happily chatting with everyone else, noticed that Sheng Ning’an was drunk and saw that Xu Weiran was about to take her back. He immediately came over to help, but Sheng Ning’an was too weak in her state to be supported by just one person.
Seeing this, Xu Weiran simply picked her up horizontally and signaled Tang Dou to help take her stuff.
Since it was Sheng Ning’an’s birthday party tonight, everyone had brought her quite a few gifts. Tang Dou held them in his arms and followed Xu Weiran out of the private room.
Sheng Yeli had just parked the car when he saw Xu Weiran coming out with the girl in his arms, which made him frown and get out of the car.
Sheng Yeli greeted him lightly, "You’re back?"
Xu Weiran smiled slightly, "Yes, just arrived today, planning to report back to the institute in a couple of days!"
Sheng Yeli nodded, then looked at Sheng Ning’an in his arms and said, "Give her to me!"
Xu Weiran looked down at the girl in his arms who had somehow fallen asleep in just a short while.
Xu Weiran handed her over to him.
Sheng Yeli carried the girl back to the car, carefully placed her in the passenger seat, and buckled her seatbelt. After closing the car door, he turned to Xu Weiran and said, "Thank you for looking after her."
"No problem, it’s my fault for not paying enough attention and accidentally letting her get drunk," Xu Weiran said.
Sheng Yeli said nothing more, clearly dissatisfied with Xu Weiran for not preventing Sheng Ning’an from getting drunk in public, then turned to Tang Dou and said, "Get in the car too; I’ll give you a ride home."
"Thanks, Young Uncle; I won’t be shy then." Tang Dou didn’t let him open the car door for him; instead, he managed to free one hand to open the door and quickly climbed into the back seat.
