Sheng Ning’an found it somewhat amusing.
"Don’t worry, my Young Uncle didn’t say anything. Besides, my Young Uncle is just cold on the outside; he doesn’t dislike you as much as he seems. If he really disliked you, he wouldn’t have let you tutor me in the first place."
Asking for his help was a sign of trust.
That being said, Sheng Yeli probably never expected that by merely asking this guy for a favor, he would end up involving his own niece.
If time could be redone, he certainly wouldn’t ask for this favor.
"So you’re really not angry?"
"Yeah! But if you don’t go cook now, I might really get angry." After all, she tended to lose control of her temper when she was hungry.
"Got it!" Xu Weiran said with a smile as he entered the kitchen.
For the first twenty-some years of his life, Xu Weiran hardly ever stepped into the kitchen. It wasn’t until those two-plus years abroad, when he couldn’t get used to foreign food, that he started to learn cooking, and now he had mastered quite a few dishes.
"Princess, please enjoy your meal!"
Sheng Ning’an looked at the three dishes and one soup on the table. "They look good, but I don’t know how they taste."
Xu Weiran handed her the chopsticks: "Try them and see!"
As it turned out, a genius is a genius; his cooking was better than that of ordinary people.
Sheng Ning’an ate until she was round-bellied and, holding the digestive tea Xu Weiran brewed especially for her, sat on the couch with a face full of satisfaction. "Your cooking skills are almost on par with my grandma’s."
But she often ate meals made by her grandma; occasionally, it was nice to have meals prepared by someone else.
Xu Weiran sat beside her, his smile gentle. "If you like, you can come often. I’ll cook for you whenever I have time."
"Forget it, how could I keep having a great genius like you cook for me? Your hands are meant for conducting experiments."
Her own hunger was simply a personal desire; the progress of science and the development of the nation were the real priorities.
His hands should be used for more important things, to have a greater effect, rather than cooking for her.
Xu Weiran: "You are as important as my experiments to me."
Sheng Ning’an’s gaze met his, and her heartbeat sped up for an instant.
Especially as her eyes fell on his thin lips, she felt inexplicably thirsty and couldn’t help swallowing.
The atmosphere was just right.
Xu Weiran looked at her and slowly leaned in.
Just as their lips were about to meet, the sudden ring of a cell phone shattered the intimate mood.
Sheng Ning’an quickly snapped back to reality and pulled out her phone from her pocket.
"Hello?" She tried to calm her breath before she spoke.
Then she heard Tian Yu’s voice come through: "An’an, are you coming back for tonight’s evening self-study? Do you need me to ask for leave?"
"No need, I’ll be back soon." After hanging up the phone, Sheng Ning’an looked up at Xu Weiran, "Um, I have evening self-study tonight, so I should be going." She then got up to leave.
Just as she was halfway to her feet, Xu Weiran caught hold of her wrist.
Before she could react, he pulled her towards him, causing Sheng Ning’an to fall forward into his embrace.
Xu Weiran held her wrist with one hand and supported her waist with the other, directly pressing his lips to hers.
"Mmm!" Her lips were suddenly captured, and Sheng Ning’an’s brain blanked out for a moment.
It was different from the teasing kisses they’d shared before; this was a deep, thorough exploration. Softly caressing, greedily seizing, Sheng Ning’an couldn’t help her legs going weak.
After the kiss ended, Xu Weiran then released her. "Let’s go, I’ll take you!"
