College exams weren’t like high school; students took one every couple of days, and sometimes even a week apart.
Additionally, college operated on a credit system where one could graduate once all credits were completed. Ning An’s goal was simply to not fail any course and to successfully graduate in her senior year. As for honors or scholarships, those were beyond her pursuit.
While everyone was discussing buying tickets to go home, she was also looking at tickets, except hers were for a vacation getaway.
After finishing her last exam, Ning An, carrying her suitcase, came down and saw Xu Weiran already waiting for her at the building’s entrance.
Taking the suitcase from her, Xu Weiran asked, "Are you sure you want to go straight to the airport? Don’t you need to go back and say goodbye to your grandparents, uncles, and aunts?"
"No need, no need," she had already informed them. She had even sent her luggage back home in advance. What remained were just the items needed for the vacation.
The two first returned to their residential area. Getting off the car, Xu Weiran told Ning An, "I’ve called a cab to the airport, it will arrive soon. You wait downstairs for a bit while I go up and get my luggage."
Xu Weiran walked a few steps then came back, reminding her, "ID card, passport, and visa—do you want to check again to make sure you’ve brought everything?"
Ning An: "Don’t worry, I’ve checked."
Only then did Xu Weiran feel relieved enough to go upstairs. While he was upstairs getting his luggage, Ning An, out of boredom, pulled out her phone.
After finishing a game, Xu Weiran still hadn’t come down from upstairs.
A look of suspicion fleetingly crossed Ning An’s face.
One game took five minutes. Counting the time for him to go upstairs and come down including waiting for the elevator, five minutes was more than enough.
Two more minutes passed and he still wasn’t in sight, Ning An directly called him, but no one answered the ringing phone.
Xu Weiran had barely left the elevator to go get his luggage when he saw the door of the apartment next door burst open, and a figure dashed out in a flurry.
Seeing Xu Weiran, their eyes brightened as they asked, "Uh, Mr. Xu, do you know how to fix water pipes?"
It turned out the neighbor’s water pipe had burst!
Xu Weiran first went to the water valve room to shut off the neighbor’s main water supply, then returned home to grab tools.
He had just replaced all the old pipes in his house when he moved in recently, so he had some materials left over.
Fixing a water pipe was quite simple, posing no difficulty for a science student, and he managed it in a few minutes.
Leaving the neighbor’s apartment, Xu Weiran opened the door and saw Ning An step out of the elevator.
Ning An also saw him, subconsciously raising her head to check the door number behind him, then glancing across the hall.
For a moment, she doubted if she had remembered the direction wrong.
"Why did you come up?" Xu Weiran, still holding the plumbing tools, walked towards her.
Ning An’s gaze fell behind him as she said, "I called your phone, but you didn’t answer, so I came up to see why you were taking so long to come down?"
Xu Weiran figured fixing the pipe would only take a few minutes, so he hadn’t specifically informed her.
As for his phone, he had casually left it at home while grabbing his tools.
"Sorry..." He was just about to begin explaining when the door behind him opened again.
Jingjing, pushed by her roommate, walked out.
Wearing slightly damp clothes, she had just spoken when she saw Ning An standing by the elevator...
