Xu Weiran chuckled, “It’s okay, I can take a temporary leave from the institute. My hand should be much better after resting for ten days to half a month.”
“You better not be reckless,” Sheng Ning’an glared at him, “A fracture is not a minor injury, you must fully recover before you can go back to work. Don’t worry, I’ll be keeping an eye on you, you’re not going back to your experiments until your hand is completely healed.”
Upon hearing this, Xu Weiran smirked and curled his lip, “Okay, if you really can stay with me every day, I guess I can put off the experiments for a while.”
“You’re still not being good even after getting hurt,” Sheng Ning’an couldn’t help but reach out and pinch his face, kneading it forcefully.
“Ouch, I feel dizzy!”
Xu Weiran suddenly closed his eyes and exclaimed that he felt dizzy.
Only then did Sheng Ning’an remember that he had a mild concussion, and the doctor had instructed him to rest quietly without any vigorous movement. Having just shaken his head, he immediately cradled his face, saying close, “Are you alright? I’m sorry, I forgot about your head injury.”
The next second, Xu Weiran grabbed his wrist.
The man showed no signs of discomfort from before, his face wearing a triumphant smile, “I’m fine, just teasing you!”
Only then did Sheng Ning’an realize he had been tricked, feeling both angry and annoyed. Instinctively wanting to push him away, but remembering his injuries, he only feigned a tug at his hand, “Stop fooling around, lie down and rest properly!”

Nevertheless, Sheng Ning’an thought it over and eventually called Mother Xu.
The main objective was to apologize.
After all, Xu Weiran had come to see her all the way from Jing City and got injured while protecting her.
It was only reasonable that she should offer an explanation to his parents.
When Mother Xu found out about the accident and that Xu Weiran had been injured while protecting Sheng Ning’an, she first inquired about their injuries. Knowing that Xu Weiran only had a broken wrist and a mild concussion, she blurted out, “That boy is finally showing some sense.”
She had always been worried about him being clueless, but now he actually knew how to risk his life to protect someone he cared about.
It seemed the boy was truly in love.
Thank goodness she no longer had to worry about him remaining a bachelor for life.
“What did you say, Auntie?” Sheng Ning’an momentarily didn’t catch it.
Mother Xu then sweetly corrected herself, “I meant, please take good care of that boy for me.”
Eagerly, Sheng Ning’an promised her, “Don’t worry, Auntie, I will take good care of him until he is fully healed.”
Mother Xu: “We are very reassured.”
