“Okay, okay, stop crying for now!” the old lady consoled her grandson while raising her head to scold Zhaozhao, “You lass, you’re so much older than him, can’t you just give in a bit? “Nyah nyah nyah…” The kid taunted while running and looking back.
But with his short legs, he didn’t get far before Zhaozhao caught him.
“Give back the items!” Zhaozhao demanded, one hand grabbing his collar, the other reaching out for the firecrackers.
“I won’t give them.” The kid tucked the firecrackers tight into his chest, hugging them closely.
Zhaozhao reached out to grab them directly.
Seeing this, the little old lady quickly leaped forward, shouting: “You wretched girl, what are you doing? Let go of my grandson.”
“If he gives me back the items, I will let him go,” Zhaozhao said.
The kid, unable to break free, panicked and suddenly threw a box of firecrackers at her.
A burst of crackling sounds suddenly filled the air.
One of them hit Zhaozhao’s face directly.
Zhaozhao felt a sharp pain in her eye and could not open it instantly.
“What happened? What’s going on!” The adults of the Shen family, hearing the commotion, rushed outside.
Covering her eyes, Zhaozhao began to cry fearfully, “Dad, my eye hurts so much, am I going blind?”
Everyone froze upon hearing this, but someone quickly recovered their senses, urging frantically: “What are you waiting for, rush her to the hospital!”
“I, I’ll go start the car.” Daddy Zhaozhao fumbled to get the car.
Witnessing the scene, the old lady next door showed a hint of panic on her face and sneaked off with her grandson while no one was watching.
“Yiyi, will I really turn into a blind person?” In the car, Zhaozhao nervously grabbed Sheng Chuyi’s sleeve.
“You won’t,” Sheng Chuyi comforted her with pursed lips, clearly very nervous himself.
