The assistant raised an eyebrow slightly, "What’s up, President Shen? Do you have any arrangements?"
Actually, he could tell that President Shen was quite attentive toward that Miss Li just now.
Although President Shen had had several girlfriends in the past, he had never postponed an important meeting for a girlfriend, no matter how busy he was.
For President Shen, this was an inviolable rule.
Yet today, although their company was supposed to have a meeting, as soon as he received a phone call, he immediately decided to postpone the meeting.
And so, everything that happened afterward unfolded.
In the rearview mirror, a figure was reflected, the man in the backseat tipping his head back to drink water, gulping it down, his throat moving.
The man’s wheat-colored skin tensed with the strain of his muscles.
The lines of his jaw, the curvature, became even more fluid, perfect.
He seemed a bit thirsty, having drank down most of the bottle in one go.
After he finished drinking, the assistant thought he might change his mind, but instead, he slowly said,
"Let’s go, drive back to the company and make up for the meeting."
The car started, and seated in the back, Shen Lin couldn’t help but squeeze the now somewhat empty water bottle in his large hand.
With some force, the bottle crumpled.
The car left the school, driving farther and farther away.
A certain inexplicable emotion welled up in his heart.
His phoenix eyes narrowed slightly.
Assistant Wu, while driving, asked with a chuckle,
"President Shen, what do you think about Miss Li?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Lin was momentarily startled:
"What do you mean ’what do I think’?"
"Having followed you for so long, this is the first time I’ve seen you take such an interest in a girl."
With those words, Shen Lin immediately realized what he meant.
He couldn’t help but chuckle lightly:
"What are you joking about? Do you know who she is? She’s Lu Xiao’s sister, and Lu Xiao is my best buddy. She’s not just some random woman."
So, he just regarded her as a sister.
However, as soon as he said that, he heard Assistant Wu reply seriously,
"But President Shen, at your age, do you still want to just play around? Your father has been urging you to get married."
At those words, Shen Lin couldn’t help but laugh out of irritation. His tongue swept across his lips in a half-amused, half-exasperated manner:
"Come on, Assistant Wu, what do you mean ’at my age’? I’m only twenty-eight, is that old?"
What the hell, why was he now so concerned about what others said about his age?
"President Shen, you’ve had your fun. Now it’s time to seriously think about settling down, so why not consider Mr. Lu’s sister?"
In the end, Assistant Wu added:
"Look at how earnestly that young lady treats love. Those you dated before were all after—" your money.
"Enough, enough, just focus on driving."
Shen Lin cut him off before he could finish.
Assistant Wu slightly raised an eyebrow without a word, dutifully driving.
Meanwhile, Shen Lin leaned back in his seat, raising a hand to rub his somewhat weary brow, his mind in turmoil.
The two of them were simply from two different worlds.
He was so much older than her and had gone through so much more, had seen so many women.
She was clean and pure, earnest and sincere about her feelings.
But in his past, distracted by his career ambitions, the girlfriends he had were all about physical attraction rather than emotional connection.
There wasn’t much to connect with emotionally anyway; their intentions were all too clear.
