He tousled her hair, and amid her exclamation, he pulled her directly into his embrace—under a single black umbrella, her body pressed tightly against his.
Shen Lin immediately went to open the passenger door.
Li Zaijun quickly grabbed his arm, "I want to sit in the back."
The rain was coming down so heavily that her voice also became louder.
Yet Shen Lin crisply replied, "The back is full of stuff, only room for one person."
While speaking, he opened the car door and directly pushed her inside.
As if she’d let anyone else sit in the passenger seat if she wouldn’t.
After shutting the car door, Shen Lin then walked around to the driver’s side and got into the car.
Because of the fuss Shen Lin made, one side of his coat got somewhat wet.
As soon as he got in the car, he took off his trench coat, revealing a dark shirt beneath. As he rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, he turned on the air conditioning and said,
"Are you cold? You two must be freezing."
"Yes, yes, Uncle, the rain is really coming down hard," Tong Le quickly agreed politely.
His hand on the steering wheel, when he started the car, he couldn’t help but shake his head and chuckle,
"Girl, do I look very old to you?"
Upon hearing this, Tong Le suddenly let out an "Ah," then immediately replied in embarrassment,
"No, no, no, how could that be? You look very handsome. But aren’t you Junjun’s dad? Since you’re the dad, and Junjun and I are of the same generation, I should call you uncle, right?"
At that remark, Shen Lin raised an eyebrow, glancing at the girl with a subtle expression sitting next to him, and he smiled and said,
"It’s alright, I’m not her biological father. Just call me ’brother’; my last name is Shen."
The little girl could call him dad, but her friend calling him uncle? That wouldn’t do.
Tong Le nodded emphatically, sincerely saying, "Alright, Brother Shen."
Li Zaijun snorted softly, nearly unable to hold back her laughter.
Tong Le was hugely embarrassed, sticking out her tongue, but she was quite the chatterbox. Seeing that this handsome man appeared rather amiable today, she couldn’t contain her curiosity and asked,
"So, Brother Shen, did you come here to pick up Junjun today? I didn’t even hear her mention your coming."
At these words, a hint of profundity flashed through Li Zaijun’s eyes.
Wearing an oversized black sweatshirt made her face appear even smaller and paler, but once again, she composed herself with a serious demeanor that made it hard to guess her thoughts.
Shen Lin, while driving, glanced at the girl in the passenger seat, his lips curling into a slight, hidden smile,
"I didn’t tell her. I just happened to be passing by in my car, and I ran into you guys by chance."
Upon hearing this, Li Zaijun’s eyebrows twitched.
She always took a car home every Friday. Him casually passing by her school’s gate?
Who would believe that.
She huffed softly and turned to look out the car window.
Tong Le, on the other hand, was thrilled, "Wow, what a coincidence that is, Brother Shen!"
With that, Tong Le leaned in a bit closer, her youthful face and large eyes open wide as she asked, "Brother Shen, actually, there’s been a question on my mind for a while."
Shen Lin, while still driving, lifted his hand to undo one of the buttons on his shirt.
Barely revealing an enticing sight beneath.
Tong Le looked up at his brows and nose, his lips slightly tinged with an aloof pink, and sighed,
"Brother Shen, are you already married? I can’t imagine how lucky she must be, probably an exceptional lady."
Li Zaijun’s expression became even more subtle, "..."
