Li Zaijun looked out the car window and a few words popped out, "I’m in a bad mood, I want to find a place to drink."
She wanted to find a place to release and vent the suppressed emotions inside her, along with the unbearable restlessness.
As soon as these words fell, he immediately scoffed, "Just by yourself?"
Li Zaijun, "So what if I am?"
Shen Lin looked at her arrogant demeanor and suddenly remembered the last time he found her in the men’s restroom at a bar.
His face darkened bit by bit, like a night sky turning overcast.
"Really not going home?"
Li Zaijun felt as though she was burning up, she unconsciously raised her hand and tugged at her collar, trying hard to suppress the strange restlessness inside her.
"Okay, you want to drink, right? I’ll take you somewhere," he said.
Having said that, he started the car and drove away from there.
The car merged into the traffic as he took out his phone and began making a call.
She caught a glimpse of the name displayed and was immediately stunned, her face flushed with surprise as she looked at him, "Why, why are you calling my brother!?"
Yes, the name displayed was indeed: Lu Xiao.
Shen Lin glanced at her, didn’t say a word, and soon, the call was answered.
Lu Xiao and Wen Xian had just returned from a rescue mission at sea and were enjoying a feast outside when Shen Lin’s call came in.
"Hello, what’s up?" Lu Xiao’s deep voice came through.
When Li Zaijun faintly heard her brother’s voice, her face changed color, Shen Lin was such a jerk!
If he didn’t want to take her drinking, he could have just said so, why did he have to snitch to her brother!
However, just as a wave of anger surged through her, the man next to her, while driving, spoke into his Bluetooth headset:
"Xiaojun is with me right now."
As he spoke, he glanced at her through the rear-view mirror, then continued, "The young lady is on an internship now, she was out with a manager meeting clients, but something happened, I just saw her and helped her out of a bind."
As he finished, Lu Xiao said something over the phone, then Shen Lin hummed in response, saying, "No big deal, it’s just that she’s not in a good state right now, says she doesn’t want to go home tonight, wants to have a drink, I know as her brother you wouldn’t be happy, but keeping this bottled up isn’t the solution either."
Li Zaijun hadn’t expected him to speak to her brother that way, and so directly at that.
She suddenly held her breath.
Lu Xiao seemed to hesitate for a moment, then spoke with Shen Lin for a bit more before Shen Lin suddenly pulled up a corner of his lip:
"Okay, I can sacrifice my night watching over her."
Just before hanging up, Lu Xiao still earnestly reminded him:
"Shen Lin, although I trust you a lot, I still need to tell you, don’t make a move on my sister."
At that, Shen Lin’s eyes deepened slightly, and then, he lazily smiled, "Don’t worry, she’s just a little girl, and moreover, your sister, besides, you already know what type I like, alright, I’m driving, I’ll hang up now."
With that, he ended the call, though the Bluetooth headset remained in his ear.
The car was silent for a while, with only the sound of her somewhat ragged breathing.
At the stoplight ahead, he pressed on the brakes, his wrist resting on the steering wheel, and then he finally looked at her and said lightly,
"Talked it over with your brother, he’s letting me keep an eye on you tonight. However, my time is limited, I can’t watch over you nonstop, so for safety, I’m taking you to a foolproof place where you can drink however you want without anything going wrong."
