Just as she was about to chat up Cui Yan, the cellphone in her purse rang.
She picked up and her friend’s voice passed over the phone, “There are three of us here and we are just missing you now. When are you getting here?”
Qin Yongmei’s laughter could be heard for miles, “I’m not going today anymore. My daughter got admitted into UCC without even applying! I need to be here and host my company!”
After receiving some salty and congratulating sentences from the other end of the line, Qin Yongmei hung up.
When they got to the living room, Qin Yongmei began to shout up the stairs, “Niannian? Niannian? Come down! You got admitted into UCC!”
Cui Yan’s brows folded into wrinkles. Qiao Qing’s nickname is Niannian?
The butler standing on the side quickly answered, “Ma’am, the young miss went to play Go with the elder.”
Qin Yongmei answered with an “oh”, and said to Cui Yan, “I’m so sorry. Not only is my daughter great in school, but she’s also great at Go. Whenever she has the time, she goes and plays Go with her grandpa. I’ll go get her right away. Come, have a seat, and drink some tea.”
She then shouted at the butler, “Why aren’t you brewing tea yet for the Dean of UCC?”
The butler quickly dropped what he was doing. “Yes, ma’am.”
After Cui Yan heard Qin Yongmei say her daughter was great at Go, the doubt his mind disappeared.
As Qin Yongmei walked out the door, she called Qiao Ziwen, “Your daughter was accepted into UCC. Come back right now!”
“What meeting? You’re the boss! So what you walk away once? Is your meeting more important than your daughter’s future?”
“I know! Just come back quickly! The Dean himself is at our house right now. You don’t expect me to host him all by myself, do you?”
After Qin Yongmei hung up, she went straight to the backyard.
Meng Chunhua was getting her nails done when she saw Qin Yongmei ran over excitedly.
“Mom, where’s Niannian and elder Qiao?”
Meng Chunhua answered, “They’re playing Go in the study room. Why do you look so happy?”
Qin Yongmei covered her mouth and laughed, “How can I not be? Niannian did great! She got accepted into UCC. The Dean of the university personally came over!”
“What? Really?!” Meng Chunhua’s hand shook, followed by an “ah!”. Then, she slapped the servant who was tending to her nails.
“Do you want to die! Can’t you be careful! You cut my flesh!”
The young servant got slapped and began to cry while she rubbed her own face.
Meng Chunhua smiled again, “Whatever, it’s a good day for my granddaughter. I’m in a good mood so I won’t make a big deal out of this.”
She then stood up, “Let’s go. We’ll go find the old man and make him happy.”
“Alright.” Qin Yongmei held onto Meng Chunhua’s arm and walked up the stairs.
When they got to the study room, they saw the two playing Go. Qin Yongmei walked up immediately, “Dad, Niannian, stop playing for a while. Come with me to my house.”
Qiao Zhizhuo’s wrist trembled, “What’s wrong?”
Qin Yongmei smiled, “Niannian was accepted into UCC. The Dean of the university came over personally to deliver the message. They’re waiting in the house.”
“What?!”
“What?!”
Qiao Zhizhuo and Qiao Nian shouted in unison.
Qiao Zhizhuo stood up from excitement.
Qiao Nian was in confusion
To get in without applying... Ye Fan was more likely to get that spot than her.
If not Ye Fan, it would be Su Qi or Si Yu from the other high schools. Why would it be her?
Could it be that the Dean of UCC liked girls better?
If that was the case, then Qiao Nian could accept this.
Out of all the girls, she should be the first consideration when it came to her cumulative grade and comprehensive skills.
