Huo Tingdong likewise accelerated and followed closely behind, almost brakelessly overtaking the tail of the van and cruising beside it in parallel.

The fat man howled in pain, punching her on the shoulder. Lin Qi was thrown into the rear compartment, collapsing on top of Zheng Xuanyi, holding her waist in agony, barely able to sit up.
Huo Tingdong, with his exceptional driving skills, managed to force the van to stop, executing a tail drift and blocking its path sideways.
At the same time, with both vehicles halted in the middle of the road, the cars behind them couldn’t pass, causing traffic to congest.
Huo Tingdong parked his car, turned on the hazard lights, and stepped out, walking towards the van.
He arrived at the van and pulled on the handle only to find the door was securely locked from the inside.
Unable to open the door, his eyes glinted with a dangerous light.
Huo Tingdong looked to the driver’s seat, realizing the people inside must have locked the doors, he forcefully knocked on it, his voice sharp, “Open the door!”
He had no patience left, especially thinking about Lin Qi inside. He had witnessed her being thrown from the car and feared her injuries would worsen if not attended to quickly. Clenching his fist, he smashed it against the window.
The entire driver’s side window couldn’t withstand his ferocious punch and shattered instantly upon impact.
The fat man’s eyes bulged out in disbelief, staring out of the car door, barely a window’s width away at the tyrant-like Huo Tingdong, his fist piercing through the window, his knuckles lacerated by the broken glass, bloodied and shocking, yet his face revealed no sign of pain, his gaze carried an oppressively threatening aura, unnerving and causing a tingling scalp to the point where he momentarily forgot to react.
Huo Tingdong reached through the window, pressing the unlock button; the van’s doors unlocked in a flash.
The rear door unlatched.
Immediately, he retracted his hand, walked to the rear door, and yanked it open.
There were three people in the rear compartment.
One man with a peaked cap, tilted to one side, still dazed, and Zheng Xuanyi, whose hands Lin Qi had tied, lay on top of the two, trembling with pain.
Huo Tingdong extended his hand, about to embrace her.
Huo Tingdong heard the sound of a handgun cocking.
A pistol was pressed stiffly against Huo Tingdong’s temple.
The fat man held the gun tightly, his face full of murderous intent, “Who the hell are you?”
Huo Tingdong’s Adam’s apple slid slightly, his eyes devoid of fear; his expression remained cold, seemingly undisturbed by the gun barrel against his temple, and stated his name deliberately: “Huo Tingdong.”
The man’s face grew increasingly tense.

The fat man nervously moved the gun barrel to the back of Lin Qi’s head, “Let go!”

He knew the man, after hearing his name, probably would not dare to shoot him, but Lin Qi was less certain.
Perhaps he knew the gun in his hand couldn’t threaten Huo Tingdong, so he resorted to threatening him with Lin Qi’s life.
“Let go! I’m warning you again, the gun in my hand is real!” The fat man shouted again, “If you make a move, I’ll blow her head off!”
With that, he fired a shot at the window.
The bullet instantly pierced through the glass and struck the guardrail, puncturing it violently.
“I’ll say it again! I will shoot! I’ll take her down with me if I have to!”
After saying this, he pressed the searing gun barrel, which had just fired, against Lin Qi’s neck, quickly leaving a faint red mark on her flesh.
Not far away, vehicles congested into a long queue, and some people who saw the two cars blocking the way got out, a few of them intending to approach and inquire about the situation, but upon hearing the gunshot, they hurried back to their cars in fear.
“Somebody fired a gun…”
“Call the police, quick!”
Inside the van, the standoff continued.
Huo Tingdong’s hand held Lin Qi’s arm firmly, but he dared not take any rash actions. Bullets were blind, and with the gun in the man’s hand loaded, any mishap could mean life or death.
He asked coldly, “What do you want with her?”
“That’s none of your business!”
“She is with me. Let her go, and whatever you’ve done, I’ll let it be bygones.” Huo Tingdong adopted a negotiator’s stance.
The other, however, said, “How do I know if you’ll keep your word later! Rest assured, if you let go now, I guarantee she won’t die, but if you don’t let go, I will shoot immediately!”
Huo Tingdong’s gaze fell on the man’s finger tugging the trigger, cold sweat dripping down his forehead once more.
He had always been one not to bend to threats and had survived cutthroat adversity but…

His lips were tightly pressed, “I want her alive, any condition, I will comply.
