The Baroness Misbehaves Chapter 204

Handling Elian’s wound, Inna was done giving him the best treatment her muddled mind could come up with.

Apparently, everyone was turning her into some kind of private family physician. They aren’t even concerned about how she knew this much and if she didn’t.

If this facade continues, she’s going to have to start asking for payment cause she clearly wasn’t the one who sent them to have their ribs broken or a sword cutting through their flesh.

The amount of blood and open flesh she’s seen so far is enough to make her lose her appetite for days, or even weeks.

"And I’m done."

When she was done bandaging him up, she met Elian’s distant gaze, and like he sensed she was going to look at him any second, he averted his gaze elsewhere before she caught him staring, clearing his throat awkwardly. The silence between them only made Inna feel uncomfortable, and she took a deep breath and asked.

"The twin sword affects Vampires greatly, and it’s more harmful to their owners. Does it reduce the healing ability of vampires? Or is there more? Because from the look of things, your wound is pretty severe, and the healing process is frustratingly slow."

She sighed. "If it doesn’t get better tomorrow morning, I’ll have to call an actual physician to check you up."

"The twin blade was forged with a unique silver metal. Silver affects Vampires," Elian explained coolly, his green-eyed gaze fixed to the ceiling, ".....Hence, it slows the healing process, and kills humans faster. Not everyone gets to use the twin blade as it is harmful to Vampires, Geoffrey made the twin blade, but it was only given to the likes of Elijah and me, and well.... Other pure-blooded freaks who may have upgraded their ranks."

"Geoffrey mentioned something about ranks, and I won’t be surprised if there are more of you." Orson, who had been standing quietly at a corner, finally joined the conversation. "Before we forget, mind telling us the reason why you presented yourself as a punching bag to that mad twin of yours?" Asked Orson, his gaze demanding because he was already at the brink of losing it with these two twins, but Elian suddenly kept quiet at his question, stubbornly refusing to give any answers to him.

"This unbearable attitude of yours makes me want to kill you first." Orson added with a scowl, knowing Elian was ignoring him deliberately, "maybe I should have left you under the pouring rain so your lunatic twin dismembers your head from your body, you’re so god-damned lucky I had Inna who wanted to come help you."

"Hmm?" Elian’s eyes widened slightly after hearing Inna was the main reason why he isn’t dead yet. He looked at her with an expectant gaze, silently asking if what Orson said was the truth, and Inna, who didn’t know how to respond to that complicated question, tried to raise her frustration on the two of them.

"Can the two of you just agree to get along for five minutes, just for five minutes." Inna asserted loudly, shutting them up. "This really isn’t the time to kill, blame, or ignore anyone. Cas and Maddie are still out there, and we don’t even know what state they’re in presently - If they are alright or not. I’m worried sick about the two of them, but you two are so annoying that you find it difficult to get along for ten seconds without the stupid threats and accusations!"

She rose to her feet, startling both men as she pointed a domineering finger at the two of them, the look on her face was contoured authoritatively. "I have made a decision, and if you do not wish to see me turn red on the both of you, Vampire or human, you two better start getting along when we begin our trip to Whitebrige city."

"We’re going there?" Elian blinked in surprise, and Inna nodded her head affirmatively. "Yes, we are. Once you’re healed, we’ll begin our trip to Whitebrige city’s capital, and the last thing I want is for the two of you to disorient my messed up mind any further, so from now on, I’ll be lady in charge."

"But I can’t go." Elian turned down the request in a low grim tone, and Inna whipped her head in his direction, finding Elian to be the last person who would refuse this journey with the two of them.

"What? Why?"

"I have to stay back for a reason."

"What reason could be more important than going to Whitebrige city’s capital and helping Cas and Maddie??" Inna demanded, but she noticed Elian’s hesitation to respond, making Orson curse him from underneath his breath.

"Ungrateful bastard." He scoffed. "Still can’t believe Cas and Maddie placed their trust on you, you don’t seem to deserve it."

"You know nothing about me," Elian snapped at Orson, finding the last part quite offensive. "I have my own battles to deal with, scores that need to be settled. If you don’t know what is happening then you have no right to speak ill of me, forget I’m injured, all it takes is a little movement to sever that tongue from your mouth."

"Stop! Both of you!" Once again, Inna had to come between the two of them. "Stop acting like the enemy when you know that isn’t the case. I don’t want to hear you two exchanging words for God’s sake we’re already having enough problems already."

Inna didn’t know how best to explain the situation since the two of them are refusing to get along. For the first time, she wished Cassian was here to make the two of them behave. Just one word, one word was all it took for her brother to make them behave, and she wished she had that kind of effect.

"Don’t trust me if you wish to, I never needed your trust in the first place." Elian let out a sardonic chuckle at the thought, "no matter what I do, or what I say, I’ll always be suspected by the two of you and I’m done trying to make you understand. It’s fine, make me the Villain in this story, but I’ll also be glad to let you know that it won’t stop me from doing what I have in mind. You two are free to leave when you’re done."

"Elian."

"At this point..." Elian added, "I don’t really blame my brother for hating humans, I never liked humans either. I would have believed the things he told me were hundred percent true, but then I think back to Maddie and Cassian who keep saving me from having the same mentality as Elijah.... Why am I even talking, you won’t believe me anyway."

"Elian..."

"I’m tired." He cut Inna off for the second time she tried to speak with him, "like I said, feel free to leave when you’re done."

Inna wanted to speak again, but Orson shook his head at the idea, signaling now wasn’t the time. Looking at Elian who pretended to have fallen asleep already, Inna had no choice but to leave the room with Orson, and once the door was closed shut, the two of them exchanged glances.

"Have we really been hard on him?" Inna asked, her expression contorted into worry, and Orson ran his fingers into his hair before shaking it slightly.

"I hate that guy but can’t deny it when he’s right. But I don’t think his words were settled on me since our feelings are mutual, I think his words were centered on you."

"Me??" Inna looked shocked, and Orson shrugged.

"It’s just a feeling. Anyway, check on him tomorrow, if I’m here, it’ll only raise an argument between the two of us. So don’t worry about it tonight, and get some sleep."
