The Baroness Misbehaves Chapter 261

It hadn’t been up to a month since Jeremy planned on sucking her dry to the bone. Her body needed all the physical and mental energy it could possibly get to create the barrier, but due to the situation at hand, Madeline couldn’t take the idea of risking it. Watching her blood flow around the crevasses that formed a big red circle around her, Madeline’s heart drummed continuously, and her body shuddered as everything was happening too fast for her mind to fully grasp exactly what she needed to do.

She let out a shaky breath and withdrew her hand from the crevasses.

"Are you okay?" Monica’s eyes held genuine worry as she watched Madeline struggle to stand up on her two feet, and she smiled faintly at Monica who was still worried about the injury on her palm. The whole place was beginning to glow as she had awakened the barrier spell with her blood, but she wasn’t done yet.

"There’s.... There’s no time, what do I do next?" She returned her determined attention to Napoleon who’s eyes gazed up at the dark cloud. The slight rumbling in the sky made his eyebrow crease into a frown, and then he said. "Indeed there isn’t, you must begin now. This is all up to you."

"Take it slowly." Monica coolly advised, "if you rush, it could weaken your strength. I suggest you.... Ah!!" Monica hadn’t completed her statement when a sharp pain shot through her heart to every other part of her body, and her eyes bulged from their sockets.

"Monica!"

"Don’t step out of the circle!" Napoleon’s warning tone reached Madeline’s ears, and Madeline halted before her feet could leave the circle. She looked at Napoleon, "what’s wrong with Monica?"

The panicked Madeline looked at Monica who dropped to the ground on all fours. Her body shuddered immensely as her fist balled on the ground, but before Madeline could ask her what happened, Monica’s light sobs suddenly stopped.

She remained in her position whilst her hair covered her face. To Madeline and Napoleon’s horror, a thread of black vein spread like branches against the skin of Monica, and when she lifted her head up, her eyes had turned pitch black.

"Monica!" Her name left Samantha’s lips in a shocking whisper. The look in her leering eyes, was she going to kill her?? Samantha already anticipated the attack, but to her notice, Monica remained still, as if she couldn’t move a muscle.

"Leave Monica to me." Napoleon’s voice rang out in the empty space as he calmly approached where his powers had Monica trapped. He was holding her down using his mind control, and that was one of the powers every ghostly apparition feared, cause all he needed to do was give a command, and they could kill themselves if he asked for it, but unfortunately, those powers are ineffective against the Mastermind.

He couldn’t get rid of the demon ghost in Monica cause if he demands for it to kill itself, it would kill Monica too, and that was a tough chance he wasn’t willing to risk. Osvaldo would kill him for it. He would have been out there facing those ghostly apparitions, but his silly brother requested he stayed with Monica and Madeline for two reasons; to guide her on the barrier spell, and to hold Monica down till the barrier was created.

Reaching for Monica, he tied her to one of the big rocks and let her struggle there.

"What are you waiting for? You know the steps, begin and channel your energy into the circle you’re standing on." Napoleon reminded Madeline of their training, and she nodded her head hesitantly before taking a deep breath and she began the steps.

Below the hill, the fight below was yet to end, and Elian assisted Inna who kept her mind focused as she kept shooting at the ghostly apparitions that headed her way. Elian tsked as he backed her, his sword ready.

"You’re really not a damsel in distress, are you?" He asked, noticing how he didn’t need to help her take them down as she skillfully reloaded her gun. When she ducked, Elian slashed a ghostly apparition that came their way, and she frowned.

"What do you think I am?"

"For once, let a man save you." When he said it, he noticed Inna pointing the gun at him.

"Hey, what are you..??" The shooting sound of her bullet went past him, and when Elian turned around, the sight of a ghostly apparition disintegrating before him made his eyes widen.

"I’m guessing someone else needs saving. Hmph!" Retorting back, she turned her back on Elian and continued with the mission with a triumphant smile on her lips.

Meanwhile, behind one of the giant rocks, Cassian had bursted through one of them and ended up on the ground. He spat out blood as his Amber-brown eyes darkened, but he refused to lay low.

"Cassian." Abbot sighed his name as he watched the young lad still struggle to get up on his two feet. They had been going on and on with non-stop clashing, and he had succeeded in giving him fatal hits with his blows and swords, but no matter how much damage he showed the human, he always got up on his two feet again.

"I’m ten times stronger than you." Abbot simply reminded him, "the blades of a twin sword take time to heal, and you’re not a pure-blood. You might lose your life if you keep going on with this endless battle with me. I’m undefeatable."

Cassian, who had stood at his full height, let out a painful breath as he clutched against his abdomen that was presently bleeding as a result of Abbot’s brutal strike. He just got tossed between a rock and the impact took him quite a lot of time to recover from it.

"You know..." Cassian began with a mocking laugh, "for someone who claims to be ten times stronger than a human, it’s a shame I’m not dead yet."

"I had no intention of killing you," Abbot twirled his blade before grabbing it firmly by the hit, "but you’re starting to make me change my mind."

When he lunged towards Cassian with a speed he had never witnessed before, the young lad wasn’t able to evade the attack when his lower abdomen hindered his movements to strike, but all of a sudden, someone pushed him out of the way and the next thing he heard was the blade of Abbot piercing into chest of someone.
