The Red Flames’ fiery orb arrived with the momentum of a thunderstorm, like thousands of bombs exploding, Ye Tian regretted immensely and cursed himself for meddling in the business of a stranger for no good reason!
The calm before the storm, as usual, seemed no exception this time.
The fiery red orb stopped right in front of Ye Tian, as if it had its own Divine Wisdom, staying still in front of his bleeding face without moving.
Ye Tian, enduring the intense heat of the flames, was thankful for his cultivation that saved him from being roasted alive. While he was puzzling over it, his pocket suddenly turned cold as ice, making him shiver amidst the heat, reminding him of the green pearl the green bird had given him.
Before Ye Tian could reach into his pocket to check the pearl, it floated out on its own, radiating a cold green light that contrasted sharply with the Red Flame Fire Pearl made from essence blood opposite it—they were like natural enemies.
Ye Tian wondered what was going on; could it really be a miracle happening to him?
The huge burst of Qi Flow from the collision of the two beads knocked him to the ground; he hit his head against a bamboo stick, incurring a sharp pain that almost brought tears to his eyes.
Looking at the two beads, there seemed no anomalies; after the collision, they just stood still in mid-air, facing each other without further clashes, making Ye Tian curse at their indifference to his suffering.
Suddenly, in almost an instant, the beads—one cold and the other hot, one red and one green—began to circle around each other slowly, like lovers dating, which nearly made Ye Tian vomit.
Ye Tian, confused about the situation, initially thought of running far away to watch what would unfold, as the battle nearby was almost done with hundreds of arrows shattering Liu Zhiming’s Barrier, and harvesting his head was next. Thinking the overall situation was settled, it would be better to leave early to avoid mishaps. However, wanting to run, he found himself at his physical limit; after fighting Liu Zhiming while holding some energy back, the burst of Qi Flow from the beads had left him utterly drained.
Since he couldn’t run, he might as well stay put.
Ye Tian found a relatively flat stone and leaned against it, not knowing who would win among the beads, but he could enjoy this rare scene—a small delight amidst life-threatening tension. Ye Tian felt he was being too sanguine.
The intertwining speed of the green and fire beads increased, their distance narrowing and the surrounding air shifted from extreme cold to extreme heat, then stabilized. Ye Tian watched, captivated, as these incompatible beads slowly began to merge—an incredible sight.
Unfortunately, the beads genuinely merged together, and even more unfortunate was their fight-like fusion drilling directly into Ye Tian’s body!
Instantly, a tumultuous Qi Flow surge made his body stiffen with extreme cold, then heated like forged steel in a furnace. Ye Tian, weakened and leaning against the stone, watched his left hand freeze while his right hand turned a fiery red hue—an ill omen, reminding him of a medical condition known as malaria that fluctuates between hot and cold, bringing unbearable pain.
After so many fights, he hadn’t died yet; wouldn’t it be ridiculous to be killed by these nonsensical beads!
A refreshing breeze blew down from the sky, and Ye Tian struggled to lift his head, his upper and lower teeth tightly clenched. Just turning his neck required a significant effort.
The green bird perched on his shoulder and indeed, this resting moment sharply restored some of Ye Tian’s Divine Wisdom. The blurred double vision before his eyes had finally merged back into one, much to Ye Tian’s joy. As the Qi flow inside his body gradually stabilized, Ye Tian felt a warmth in his abdomen. It seemed as if something was circulating there. Looking down, he could see, through his clothes, two differently colored beads circulating continuously—a red and blue hue rotating mysteriously like the Yin-Yang fish in Tai Chi Bagua, albeit the colors were slightly mismatched.
Ye Tian tried to circulate the Qi within his body and indeed, it still didn’t work.
Ye Tian stood up, feeling light as if he had no grounding. He secretly felt relieved in his heart, grateful that he wasn’t dead yet. Even if he had lost his cultivation, at worst he’d live out his life as an honest commoner, no longer fighting.
Suddenly, the ground shook and the mountains trembled. Ye Tian looked up and saw a strong blaze rising in the distance.
Liu Zhiming had been shot to death by hundreds of arrows.
Ye Tian shook his head, a larger number truly makes a greater force!
"Thanks to you just now, otherwise, we wouldn’t have succeeded in the end."
A voice came from behind, and Ye Tian recognized it as the leader of the Sixth Group, Zhang Liang.
Using human lives to fill gaps, Zhang Liang could do it;
Watching his own men die without a change in expression, Zhang Liang could do it;
Using a scheme to garner sympathy and win over hearts, Zhang Liang could also do it.
Ye Tian truly began to doubt if he had misjudged the person before. It hadn’t been long, they had been fighting desperately just a while ago, and now he’d turned his face and disowned them, could such a person be fit to lead?
"Is it resolved?" Ye Tian’s body had not yet recovered, and he leaned on a bamboo pole. The bamboo had been dried out by the prior red coloration, turning yellow and still radiating heat which warmed his spine.
Zhang Liang looked at him calmly and said, "I know what you’re thinking, do you think I’m being too excessive in my actions and as a person?"
Ye Tian sighed, unsure if Zhang Liang had witnessed the events that had just occurred, but at least for now, he hadn’t mentioned it.
"How could I dare think that the leader of the Sixth Group is excessive? Holding great power and deciding life and death as you please."
