When Yao Ran heard this, she couldn’t get a hold of her emotions anymore. “I’m. not blaming you or anything, but if you’d just look at the scoreboard—we are points behind!” she snapped. “Tell me, do you know Yao Tang? Are you her friend or something?”
Maybe Xu Xuan was going easy on the country bumpkin. That’s why they were losing.
“No,” she explained. “We don’t know each other.”
“Then why aren’t you hitting the ball in her direction? She has absolutely no experience. She’s weaker than the three of us combined,” Yao Ran insisted. “Why not go for the weak link for once?”
Losing all composure, she stared at Xu Xuan with a fiery blaze in her eyes.
She couldn’t care any less about how she looked
When Xu Xuan heard her mention Yao Tang’s name, her eyes flashed with uneasiness. Hesitating, she said, “I feel like Yao Tangis not as simple as you may have presumed. It’s best if we don’t provoke her. She only counters, and never serves. It’s best if we don’t redirect the ball to her again.”
“How would you know?”
There was a pause. “It’s just a gut feeling.”
A gut feeling? That’s it? Yao Ran scoffed. “If it’s because of the two points we lost a few minutes ago, then it’s simply a coincidence,” she stated. “Maybe it’s because you weren’t able to block her attack. that’s why we couldn’t score.”
“But…”
“Look, it’s not like you want to lose, right? We’re going against two ordinary students. If you lose, you’ll just shame the entire school.”
Yao Ran made a dissatisfied noise after that before turning away. “I’ll serve this time around.”
Xu Xuan still felt that something wasn’t right in her heart. She was a professional player. As such, she was able to read people and their abilities before entering the match. Yao Tangreally wasn’t as simple as they all thought she was, but even then, no one wanted to listen to her.
Yao Ran simply shook her head.
How could a country girl know about tennis anyway? It’s not like she ever played there.

Very soon, the second round of the competition started.

Her speed was fast, and the ball spun to the other side of the court.

Without another word, she jumped high up in the air and swung her racket.
The ball flew to the other end.
No one saw how Yao Tang had managed to do it. Her movements were just so fast that the next thing they saw was the ball hitting right on Yao Ran’s feet. Everyone gaped, bursting into claps.
That was amazing!
Meng Yang whistled. “Sister Tang, you’re awesome!”
Immediately, the crowd burst into an animated discussion.
“How did she manage to do it?” Others would peer from the side, trying to calculate what had just happened in their mind. Only a professional player would’ve been able to manage to block the shot.
Qin Jing and Xu Xuandidn’t even have the chance to catch the ball. Heck, they didn’t even have the time to follow it.
It was truly amazing.
Could Yao Tang still be so lucky?
However, as they observed Yao Tang’s elegant form and clean counters, they couldn’t help but think differently. She just didn’t look like the person who had just played tennis.
