Yao Ran followed Qin Manall the way home.
The two of them didn’t say anything else in the car.
Qin Man sat in the car, her face was as pale as a sheet. There was a dark flush appearing on either side of her cheek as she dug her fingers deeper into her palms.
Thinking of the man standing next to Yao Tang earlier, a trace of fear shot through her heart.
She didn’t know who the man was, but she could tell just how powerful he was. Her lips were shaped into a thin line.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have allowed the police to drag Zhang Shou away without any other excuse. Her frown deepened, and her eyes narrowed even further.
When she thought about all the secrets Cheng Yan had shared with her, a huge wave of fear rose in her heart.
What was he going to do?
“Ranran, do you know the man who appeared just now?” She questioned. “Who is he?”
Memories flashed at the back of her mind. Although she had come across him a couple of times, she didn’t know much about his identity or his capabilities. “I don’t know much about him.”
Hearing her words, Qin Man could only sigh in disbelief.
Her thoughts returned to Zhang Shou.
Originally, he was Yao Tang’s matchmaker. He was also a good ally of the family. He could’ve helped Yao Yuan develop his career even further. But that was impossible, wasn’t it?
Now, he was in a police station.
He didn’t know when he’d be released. Moreover, he might not be able to get out for the rest of his life.
Qin Man felt even more disappointed.
If that was the case, not only would the marriage agreement with Yao Tang fail, but also the business cooperation between both the Yao and the their Family would also be terminated.
This was bad news.
Qin Man frowned and thought about it for a while. Only then did she finally give Yao Yuana call.
He didn’t pick up for the first call. Luckily, he had been able to pick up on the second call.
“Do you need something?”
His cold voice made her heart flutter with anxiety.
“Yao Yuan,” she asked carefully. “Where are you now?”
After pausing for a bit, he said, “There’s a meeting at a company tonight. I have to deal with a lot of things right now.” He sighed. “You don’t have to wait for me.”
“It’s not about that. It’s just that…I have to tell you something very important.”
“Go ahead!”
“All right.”
However, she couldn’t really find herself to say anything.
How could she say that their plan had been foiled yet again?
Not hearing what Qin Man had to say, Yao Yuansnapped, “Are you going to say it or not? If you’re not going to say anything, then I’m just going to hang up—”
“I’ll say it!”
Qin Man took a sharp breath. “It’s our partner, Ceo Zhang—”
She quickly relayed all the things that had happened in the restaurant.
On the other end of the line, when Yao Yuan heard what Qin Manwas saying, he couldn’t help but grit his teeth. His grip on the phone tightened even further.
“Is this what you call helping me?” he demanded. “All you do is give me failed reports and complaints. Don’t you know how to do anything useful for once in your life?”
“I…” Qin Man’s eyes turned bright red, feeling wronged by his accusation.
“Who am I doing this for?” She scoffed. “Am I not doing this for our family? All I ever wanted was to do something good with the Zhang Family so we can ally ourselves with their company, yet all I hear from you are complaints as well!”
There was a pause when she added, “You wouldn’t even blame Yao Tang for being in a relationship at such a young age. You can only blame me. It’s always been me.”
Yao Yuan rolled his eyes.
“Are you saying this man is of high status?”
“So what? Even if he is of high status, does that have anything to do with our family?” Qin Manscowled. “From what I remembered, Yao Tangis not a member of our family.”
“Have you forgotten whose child Yao Tang is? Fine. I’ll handle the matter regarding Zhang Shou. You don’t have to worry about this any longer, okay?”
With that, Yao Yuan didn’t even wait for Qin Manto speak. He directly hung up the phone.
