Before Yao Tang could finish her sentence, the male student rushed to speak, “I understand everything. I already know what to do next too.” He bobbed his head rapidly. “Don’t worry, I’ll do my best and make sure I’ll do well on the next exam. I won’t let you down! I’ll even—”
“Stop!” she hurriedly said before he continued.
The student immediately shut his mouth and stared at her, his hands still shaking. Was she going to be angry at him?
Yao Tang had a complicated expression on her face as she studied the boy’s frightened face. After a moment of silence, she slowly nodded. “Okay, if that’s what you say.”
“Thank you!” The student hurriedly nodded and raced out of her way, too afraid to even look in her direction.
She leaned back against her seat and glanced up at the supposedly large crowd. However, the long line had already dispersed. Everyone had returned to their seats, refusing to look at her.
What?
Why were they scared of her?
Lin Xin sighed, taking the pen from Yao Tang’s hand. “Sister Tang,” she said lightly. “Look at your broken pen—it’s not supposed to look pretty, but it is! I love it!”
“What?” Yao Tang gazed helplessly at her carefree friend, unsure what to say.
Before she could continue this conversation, she felt someone gazing at her. She slowly turned around to see another student looking at her from outside her classroom.
It was Zhang Dong.
He was trying to peek through the window as subtly as he could. This was to ensure that he wouldn’t be scaring off anyone in the process.
When he spotted Yao Tang looking over, he almost jumped up in excitement.
He immediately waved his hand toward the door, signaling for her to come over and meet with him.
However, before she could say anything else, the teacher was the next person to take notice of this absurd behavior. “Boy,” she called out. “What seems to be the matter?”
All eyes were on him, and Zhang Dong’s face turned bright red.
There was a moment of silence when he slowly walked toward the door and bowed to the teacher. “I’m sorry to disturb,” he murmured. “I just wanted to talk to Yao Tang about something.”
He glanced over her.
The teacher slowly nodded. “All right. Yao Tang.” She waved her over. “Come back as soon as possible.”
The corners of her smile twitched up. “Fine.”
They were in the middle of the corridor when he finally whirled around. He was obviously panicked as he shuffled on his feet. “Student Yao Tang,” he said hurriedly. “I didn’t mean to disturb you, it’s just…this is an urgent matter, and I don’t know what to do!”
He took a deep breath. “After I talked to you, the President of the National Sports Association already booked a plane ticket! He’s on the plane as we speak and he’s coming over here to see you.”
If he wasn’t on the plane, he wouldn’t be in such a hurry to find her.
He had been searching for her since yesterday! It was a good thing he was finally able to tell her everything now, just before he’d arrive.
His shoulders sagged in relief at the thought.
“So?”
However, as soon as he was met with her unbothered behavior, he couldn’t help but feel a little surprised. “He should be rushing over here any minute now,” he insisted.
Yao Tang nodded.
What?
He was thinking that Yao Tang would either be outraged by his insistence or pleasantly surprised to see his determination. That, or she had changed her mind and wanted to meet with him.
He didn’t expect her to act like this.
After Yao Tang was finished talking, she turned around and headed back to the classroom.
Zhang Dong immediately chased after her. “Yao Tang,” he called out. “Don’t go back yet. Why don’t you come with me to meet him instead?”
“I have plans,” she said, before walking back to her classroom.
Once she was inside, she turned on her phone and sent a message to Principal Kong.
“Uncle Kong, are you in school?”
Upon seeing this message, Principal Kong’s heart became a little uneasy.
He immediately typed a reply,
“I’m not free.”
After sending this message, he lay on the sofa and wiped the sweat from his forehead. He wasn’t going to let her disturb his peaceful day.
