The Head of the Yang Family ignored his bodyguard and continued to look around. He was still calling out at the wall, in hopes that the intruder would reply.
However, even after a few minutes had passed, there was still no sign of suspicious activity. Only then did Yang Jiang close his eyes and take a deep breath.
The bodyguards rubbed their foreheads in unison.
“What kind of person would do such a thing?”
“If that person really is in the room now, it wouldn’t make sense as to why we weren’t able to see him,” the bodyguard relayed his thoughts before hesitating. “Do you think…do you think it could be a spirit?”
It would make sense why they could hear the voice, yet not see the voice’s owner.
The bodyguards had been by Yang Jiang’s side for so many years. Not only were they experienced, but they were also considered the best in their fields.
It was impossible for them to not be able to catch anybody.
That person must be a spirit.
However, when Yang Jiang heard their words, his eyes suddenly widened as if he had just remembered something.
A spirit?
His eyes flashed with surprise.
He knew that this world couldn’t only be explained by science.
There were so many things that couldn’t be explained, so many mysterious happenings that even he wouldn’t dare dabble with.
Had he offended a person in the past?
What was the person’s reason for coming here?
Just as he was busy racking his brain, one of the bodyguards immediately called out, “Sir, I know where the voice had come from!”
Yang Jiang whirled around to see his bodyguard squatting right beside the chair. The younger man’s eyes were narrowed as he observed the chair’s legs.
He made a small gesture, and Yang Jiang’s eyes widened in realization. “Where is it?”
“Here.”
He flipped the chair over, and they could see a black device stuck under the chair. It was a listening device!
That meant that his study was bugged!
That person must’ve used these devices to transmit their sounds as well as the intruder’s voice. It was meant to intimidate them.
In the end, the person wasn’t really here.
“Since these rats like to hide in all the dark corners, then I’ll just have to make sure that they never see the light of day ever again.”
Yang Jiang made a hand gesture, and the bodyguard destroyed the device in an instant.
Even then, he didn’t seem satisfied as he swiped the cup to the side, letting it smash onto the ground. He was a fool! How could this have happened?
He was actually fooled by someone!
“Search for him,” he commanded. “Search every corner of this house. We must find him!”
“Make sure to contact all the security personnel who was present tonight. Punish them accordingly. I won’t allow that person to hide under our watch!”
“Yes, Sir.”
However, before they could head out of the study, they heard a feminine scream echoing from the second floor. It was from the other end of the hall.
“Who are you? Why are you here?”
Yang Jiang froze.
He hadn’t let outsiders know his whereabouts, so it wouldn’t be convenient for him to go out like this. It was why he could only check his surveillance cameras.
He immediately walked to his computer and checked the surveillance cameras positioned around his corridor.
It was filled with people. All of them he had recognized as the people who were invited to the banquet.
However, they didn’t look like they were enjoying their time. Instead, they were huddled together, whispering to one another. What was happening?
He narrowed his eyes to see that the room was the same room Yang Nian had entered. Did something happen to him?
“That damn boy!”
The corridor was filled with people. As such, the bodyguards also couldn’t leave Yang Jiang’s study. They could only lower their heads and stand in the corner.
Yang Jiang looked at another camera and zoomed in.
There, he saw Yang Nian with his arms wrapped around a young girl. His eyes were dull and wide as if he didn’t expect this situation to happen.
