Chapter 748: Stay After Surgery
When bones were injured, there was rarely a chance of full recovery.
And when surgery was needed, the case became particularly risky.
Nevertheless, getting a 90% probability was already better than anyone can hope for.
“Congratulations,” Madam Meng said to Qin Man. “Your child can walk normally again. After knowing that we are able to help other people through our research, I can truly say that our family’s efforts all these years have not gone to waste!”
Seeing that everyone else was distracted, Yao Ran grabbed the opportunity and peered at Meng Ling’s wrist again.
Her hand was still under the blanket, but part of her wrist was exposed. It was obvious that it hadn’t completely healed yet.
Meng Ling’s movements were rather stiff as well.
Yao Ran recalled how the doctor hadn’t even conducted an x-ray on her ankle. He merely checked her vital signs and some basic blood work.
If she didn’t know any better, she would have thought that they were only playing doctor!
Did these people really have the ability to treat her?
Yao Ran hid her doubts and plastered a relieved smile on her face. “Is that true, Doctor? Do I really meet the requirements? When will you perform surgery on my ankle?”
Madam Meng’s eyes instantly lit up. She cleared her throat and gave the doctor a pointed look.
Understanding her message, the doctor beamed and said, “I can do it as soon as possible. I would also recommend that you stay in the hospital in the following days, so we can observe how your body is coping with the treatment. This also ensures that you recuperate under the best conditions.”
“Is that so?” Qin Man asked tentatively.
Her expression turned pensive as she considered the doctor’s suggestion.
Judging by how things were progressing, it seemed that the surgery would happen in the next couple of days or so.
Yao Ran, on the other hand, felt a keen sense of foreboding.
“Never mind that,” she interjected. “We’ve already troubled the Meng family enough by using their resources. I don’t want to be any more of a burden than I already am.”
“Oh, it’s no trouble at all!” Madam Meng immediately said.
“Don’t act like an outsider, Ranran, it upsets me. Besides, this ward is much too big for Lingling alone. If you stay, she will finally have a companion. In fact, I would be most grateful!”
Madam Meng’s generosity seemed to know no bounds.
Qin Man smiled to herself. If she left Yao Ran in the hospital throughout the girl’s recovery, it would save her a lot of grief.
She was in the capital, after all. She fully intended to take a grand tour of the city.
She would have to shelve those plans if she had to take care of Yao Ran. But if they accepted Madam Meng’s offer, Qin Man would be free to do whatever she wanted.
She had heard that the clothes sold in Beijing were of better quality than anywhere else. She naturally had to go shopping and explore all the options.
This time, she wouldn’t have a cripple like Yao Ran get in the way and make things difficult for her.
She readily agreed to let Yao Ran stay.
“That would be the best option,” Qin Man said with a smile. “I have the utmost confidence in your hospital staff.”
Yao Ran froze in shock.
She opened her mouth to protest, but a voice in her head told her that if she rejected this opportunity, she might have to undergo several painful treatments back in City A.
She might as well go for a single surgery while she had the opportunity.
What was the worst that could happen, anyway? If the treatment failed, she would just continue living as she currently was.
“Thank you for your trust, Madam Yao,” the doctor said. “Allow me to elaborate further. The fruits of our research are geared toward the restoration of an injured patient’s bones to the greatest extent that their body is capable of. Our treatment shows promising signs of rapid recovery and may only take a week or two to take full effect.”
Once again, he emphasized the importance of admitting Yao Ran to the hospital after surgery.
“Since it is a special medicine that isn’t out on the market yet, we need to pay close attention to the patient’s condition throughout the treatment. We need to be ready for any possible emergencies in the slim chance that a complication occurs.”
Even under normal circumstances, his words sounded very reasonable.
Yao Ran was still reluctant, but she could do nothing at this point.
Qin Man just nodded along with the doctor’s words. “Thank you very much. Madam Meng, you are very kind to do this for us. Initially, we only came here for treatment. We didn’t expect you to take care of Yao Ran’s surgery and even her recovery. I don’t know how to thank you.”
“It’s all right, I assure you. We are neighbors, after all.”
Although she said that, Madam Meng’s smile didn’t reach her eyes this time.
If they really had a miracle cure in their hands, why would they be willing to hand it over to the Yao family?
Qin Man was too greedy and foolish for her own good.
To think that she just foisted her injured daughter on other people without a care in the world…
