The Billionaire Stands Up for Me Chapter 70

I even organized a support group, and he just deserted me at the last minute.

I still have to notify the support group not to go to court tomorrow, and wait for my notification on when to go.

Those aunts and ladies, lured by the lifetime sixty percent off my brand offers, all have a great attitude, saying they’re ready whenever I call.

Sitting and waiting for defeat is not my style. I thought about it all night and decided to visit this scumbag tomorrow.

I figured he would definitely go to the previous hospital and see the previous attending physician if he got sick.

Upon visiting, indeed, he was!

Olivia Gray and Amanda Gordon were both at the hospital. Seeing me arrive, they were both shocked.

Amanda Gordon had an aggressive tone: "What are you doing here? Didn’t my brother apply for a postponement of the court session? Are you chasing him to the hospital to forcibly drag him to court?"

I couldn’t be bothered to respond and asked directly, "What illness does your brother have?"

"Why, are you concerned about my brother now?"

"I’m concerned about when he will recover so he can quickly deal with the divorce and stop dragging this out for me."

"You—you’re truly cold-blooded and heartless! You’re to your own family and the man you’ve loved for years! My brother was blind to have been with you for so many years!"

Impatient, I brushed past her to go straight into the ward, but Olivia Gray stopped me.

"Lily, he just fell asleep. You shouldn’t go in yet."

I turned around. The source of this content ɪs NoveI(F)ire.net

Olivia Gray explained, "Adrian’s illness is similar to before. It’s an autoimmune disease, and the specific cause is still being researched by the doctors. He needs to rest quietly during this time, not overwork, and avoid getting upset, which is why I decided to let his lawyer apply for a postponement."

After hearing this, I felt a little complicated.

Did he really have a relapse as I guessed?

"How long will his treatment last?"

"I don’t know. His mood is depressed, and he’s mentally weak, which also affects the treatment effectiveness."

Olivia Gray replied and walked closer to me with a pleading look on her face.

"Lily, you’ve been together for six years and even got your marriage certificate. Isn’t there a saying that a day as a couple means a hundred days of grace? Do you really have to make it this ugly?"

I took a step back, my face calm, and stated bluntly, "You’re worried that if his old illness returns, he needs long-term blood transfusions and relies on me, so you don’t want me to divorce him."

Amanda Gordon immediately cursed, "Lily, you sure know how to credit yourself! Do you think my brother can’t live without you?"

"Isn’t that the truth? Otherwise, why are you all opposed to the divorce?"

Amanda Gordon was left speechless by my retort.

In the stalemate, Adrian Gordon’s low and slow voice came from the hospital room, "Mom, let Lily in."

Olivia Gray was startled and hurriedly opened the ward door, "Adrian, you’re awake?"

I stood in the hallway, looking through the crack in the door, and saw Adrian Gordon slowly sitting up.

Since he was awake, we might as well talk face-to-face.

I walked in, assessing Adrian Gordon with a cold gaze—indeed looking disheveled, much thinner, with skin so pale it lacked color, much like when he was sick a few years back.

"Sorry, I didn’t want to disturb your recovery, but the divorce can’t be delayed anymore. If you can’t go to court with your health, then we’ll have to settle for an amicable divorce. Just sign the papers, and we can be done at the civil affairs bureau in minutes."

Before coming, I’d already thought about what to say and even brought the divorce papers with me.

As soon as I finished speaking, I took out the divorce papers from my bag, opened them, and handed them over.

The atmosphere froze, with Adrian Gordon leaning against the headboard, looking at me with faint sorrow, then lowering his gaze to look at the divorce papers.

Unexpectedly, Amanda Gordon rushed up and snatched the divorce papers away.

"My brother is , and you still come to pressure him. Do you have any humanity?"

"It’s not my fault your brother is , so don’t try to morally blackmail me." I snatched the divorce papers back and stepped forward to place them on the bedside table.

"Adrian Gordon, as I’ve said, I saved your life, and I’ve been more than kind. You betrayed me first, so don’t blame me for being merciless now. Consider it accumulating some good deeds for yourself, and just sign the divorce papers quickly!"

Adrian Gordon stared at me and, after I finished speaking, slowly reached for the divorce papers.

I thought he would just tear them up and reminded him, "I have prepared many copies; tearing this one is useless."

Who knew he would look over the divorce papers and then slightly turn to me, saying just one word, "Pen."

I was stunned, not reacting right away.

He looked up at me, "Where’s the pen? You want me to sign the divorce papers, right?"

Amanda Gordon was shocked and wide-eyed, "Brother, have you thought it through? Are you really going to divorce her?"

I snapped back to reality, overjoyed, and quickly bent down to rummage through my bag for a pen, "Looks like you haven’t completely lost your conscience, finally coming to your senses."

I handed the pen over.

Adrian Gordon took it and signed all three copies of the divorce papers.

"Is this satisfactory?" He placed the pen on top of the divorce papers and handed them to me.

I nodded, very satisfied, "It’s fine. So, when are we going to the civil affairs bureau?"

"When I’m discharged."

I frowned, suddenly realizing, "You won’t be staying in the hospital forever, right?"

In that case, even signing the divorce papers would be of no effect.

Amanda Gordon burst out cursing again, "What do you mean? Are you cursing my brother never to recover?"

I looked over, giving her a glance, "Did you have gunpowder for breakfast? I’m not talking to you, so stay out of it."

"Sweetie!" Adrian Gordon stopped her, then looked at me and said, "No, at most I’ll be out in a week."

I nodded, able to accept that timeframe, "Alright, I’ll wait. But I won’t withdraw the lawsuit from the court either, let’s see which side moves faster."

I was afraid he’d pull something again, so I had to cover both bases with both hands prepared.

"You’ve pushed things this far with me," Adrian Gordon laughed helplessly and steadily asked, "Are you in such a hurry because Daniel confessed to you?"

Glaring at him, I felt a bit guilty, but more than that, I was angry.

"Adrian Gordon, why do you always drag others into our matters? Do you have any idea how disgusting you are? Why do you think, just because you betrayed me, that I would still be obligated to swallow my pride and stay with you?"

"I never betrayed you. From beginning to end, you were the one I loved."

"Ha—" I laughed in anger, "Keep lying to yourself."

Intending to walk out right away, I then heard Adrian Gordon ask, "I heard you took down the Miller Family and personally sent Uncle Miller to jail. Was it necessary to be so ruthless? He’s still your biological father, the one who raised you and provided for your education, which brought you to where you are now."

I was stunned, staring at him for a moment, then mocked, "Not only do you have a histrionic personality, but you’re also a super saint."

"Let’s address what’s at hand. While he may not have been a qualified father, his crimes weren’t to that extent," Adrian Gordon said coolly.

I chuckled slightly and said with casual ease, "So what now? He’s already in there. If you’re so benevolent, why don’t you help him find a good lawyer, pay his tax fines, and reduce his penalty as much as possible?"
