The Billionaire Stands Up for Me Chapter 93

Truly caring about someone means paying attention to all aspects of their life, even noticing their minor illnesses and pains, feeling them in your heart.

After all, in this lifetime, how many major illnesses, hurdles, or hardships can one truly have?

Isn’t the so-called affection reflected in the little details and the small cogs of life?

Thinking about this, I regretted what I said earlier, feeling that I was ungrateful and deciding that I should apologize to him later.

"President Miller, President Miller?"

Calvin Yance called me several times before I snapped out of it and quickly regained my senses.

He looked at me with somewhat confused eyes: "Are you okay? If it’s inconvenient for you today, we can talk about it on Monday."

"No, I’m fine, just happen to be free today." I perked up, holding an ice pack to my forehead with one hand on my knee, while pulling over the stack of documents with the other. "What problem were you mentioning just now? I’ll solve it for you."

The company is all my hard work, and it’s rare to find such a responsible and diligent manager; how can I fall behind?

After going through Adrian Gordon’s situation, I increasingly understand the importance of career for a woman.

Especially for someone like me, who can’t rely on family for protection. Original content can be found at noⅴelfire.net

Even if that person is Daniel Carter, he can’t interfere with my determination and perseverance in building my career.

We spent an entire afternoon at the company, not only going through the main work of the past few years, but also roughly determining the process for next February’s Veyrona Fashion Week.

"Alright, let’s leave it at that for today. We can let other departments refine the details after the meeting. Once the plan is ready, you look over it first, and if there are no issues, hand it to me."

The ice pack was nearly freezing my hand.

While giving instructions, I quickly tossed the ice pack aside and warmed my hand in my pocket.

"Okay, I’ll finalize it as soon as possible." Calvin Yance nodded, stood up, and began tidying up the documents on the table.

Perhaps noticing my gesture of hiding my hand in my pocket, he suddenly turned around halfway through and quickly poured a cup of hot water from the bar.

"President Miller, here’s something to warm your hands."

I raised my eyebrows in surprise, "Thank you."

He seemed like a rough and carefree person, but his mind was keen and meticulous.

I held the hot water cup, and my palms quickly warmed up.

"Well, it’s getting late. How about I treat you to dinner tonight? I’ve been busy since you joined, and haven’t held a welcome party. I’m really sorry."

Calvin Yance looked outside at the sky with surprise, "Is it snowing?"

"Yes, it started snowing when I came over at noon."

"This weather is perfect for hotpot. Do you like hotpot, President Miller?" He consulted me.

"Sure," I nodded, but then thought that having just the two of us might be dull, so I suggested, "Why not invite your girlfriend too, it’ll be livelier with more people."

Calvin Yance chuckled, "If I had a girlfriend, would I be here working overtime on a weekend?"

I was taken aback and remembered that he indeed mentioned—having just returned home without many friends, feeling bored alone at home, hence coming to the office to work overtime.

This is a bit awkward.

Business meals typically are better at Chinese or Western restaurants.

A man and a woman going for hotpot alone might easily lead to misunderstandings.

But having already agreed, reneging now would make me appear overthinking.

Considering we have to work together for a long time, my hesitation might make him think I’m a "picky" boss.

Helplessly, I had to bite the bullet and go for hotpot.

I chose a high-end seafood hotpot restaurant in the city and drove over.

During the meal, we talked a lot about fashion topics, and realized we shared similar views, resonating with each other.

There was a moment of feeling like we met too late.

As the meal was nearing completion, someone passed by me, suddenly greeting, "Miss Miller, what a coincidence?"

I raised my head in response, first stunned upon seeing the person, then quickly remembered who he was!

The holder of the license plate 66688, Daniel Carter’s friend, the heir of the Yates Family—Natalie Yates.

"Hello, Mr. Yates." I stood up and greeted politely.

Natalie nodded, "Hello." His gaze then drifted to the person opposite me.

Realizing what was happening, I hurriedly introduced, "This is my company’s newly appointed general manager, Calvin Yance, President Yance. President Yance—this is the heir of the Yates Group, Natalie Yates, a notable figure in Fallhaven, get acquainted, you might collaborate in the future."

Before I had finished speaking, Calvin Yance got up and respectfully reached out, "Hello, President Yates, looking forward to learning from you."

"President Yance’s being courteous."

After shaking hands, Natalie Yates’s gaze returned to me, curiously asking, "Didn’t you arrange to go out with Daniel on the weekend? It’s the first snow of the year, it’s lively outside."

Indeed, I looked out the window, the snow was getting heavier, fluttering down, covering the roadside green with white snow.

Many people were out there deliberately getting snowed on, taking photos, frolicking.

"Uh... We met in the morning, and I had things to do in the afternoon, so we’re both busy separately." I replied honestly.

"Oh, you’ve already met." Natalie Yates’s smile seemed somewhat intriguing as his gaze swept over Calvin Yance, and then he nodded and bid farewell, "Then continue your meal, I’m leaving."

"Alright, goodbye Mr. Yates."

Natalie Yates smiled gracefully, waved, and left stylishly.

I had a feeling, Natalie Yates would definitely turn around and contact Daniel Carter, saying he saw me having a meal alone with a man.

I felt slightly conflicted.

There was a bit of stir, wondering if Daniel Carter would feel jealous.

Also a bit concerned, fearing Daniel would think I rejected him, then quickly went for dinner with another man and had a great conversation—would he suspect I’m a "social butterfly"?

"President Miller, are you full?" Calvin Yance interrupted my thoughts.

"Oh, I’m full, I’ll pay!" Coming back to reality, I immediately raised my hand and called the waiter.

However, when I asked for the bill, the waiter politely said, "Your bill was covered by Young Master Yates."

"What? Young Master Yates paid my bill?" I had just picked up my phone, stunned at what I heard.

"Yes. Would you like an invoice?" the waiter asked.

Still feeling shocked, I nodded blankly, "No, it’s not necessary."

After the waiter left, I felt a bit embarrassed, looking at Calvin Yance and said, "I was supposed to treat, but Young Master Yates paid... So I’ll treat next time."

Calvin Yance said, "That Young Master Yates seems like a generous person."

"Yes, quite generous." I responded awkwardly, but inwardly thought: This seems like a subtle reminder to me.

I inexplicably received his kindness, yet didn’t have his contact information to thank him—in the end, the only option was to call Daniel Carter and ask him to convey my gratitude.

This, in turn, forced me to be upfront with Daniel Carter, admitting I had dinner alone with a male colleague from the company.

This move by Young Master Yates is really clever.

Upon leaving the hotpot restaurant, Calvin Yance and I bid goodbye, and each got into our cars.

He quickly drove away, while I sat in the car, watching the snow fall on the windshield, recalling Daniel Carter’s suggestion of snow scenery earlier in the morning, ruminating over it.

Should I actively call him to clarify?

After a brief hesitation, thinking about Natalie Yates covering the bill, I still took out my phone and dialed Daniel Carter’s number.
