The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife Chapter 109

109: Chapter 109: Arrival of the Netherworld King 109: Chapter 109: Arrival of the Netherworld King One year ago.

In a mercenary base somewhere in Africa, the tranquil night made everyone feel bored.

Several sentinels hid in the trenches outside, smoking and chatting casually with those around them to pass the mundane evening.

Our several strongholds in the Dorai Region have been attacked by unidentified armed forces.” A soldier hurried into the base’s headquarters where several African-looking men were intensely discussing something over a map.

Say it again.” A burly black man in the center of the crowd stood up, his face etched with shock.

“Several strongholds, attacked by unidentified armed forces.”

“How are those strongholds now?”

“All, all forces annihilated.” The soldier stammered out his words.

“Bang.” The man raised his fist angrily, and slammed it heavily on the table.

The solid wooden table instantly cracked.

Everyone was startled by the man’s action, and nobody dared to breathe a word.

The place that was just bustling with noise had now fallen into dead silence.

“Who in the world…” The man screamed hysterically, his voice resembling that of a demon from hell.

At this moment, the phone in the base rang, and everyone turned their eyes toward it, with the man taking swift strides forward to grab the handset.

“Baka, you cursed traitor, you swore up and down that you were sincere about collaborating with me.

And yet, just two days later, my troops have been decimated by someone.

Did you betray me?” As soon as the phone call connected, a torrent of swearing came through.

The man named Baka was stunned, wondering how he was suddenly being accused of betrayal.

“Han Ni, how could you possibly betray me?

We’re in the same boat,” Baka said.

Ahh!” The call was interrupted by a scream from the other end, followed by pleas for mercy, and then…

Through the phone, Baka had heard everything clearly.

It was evident that the man called Han Ni on the other end had died.

The phone fell out of Baka’s hand in fright, clattering to the floor.

A man who usually exuded brutality and might was now so scared he couldn’t even hold onto a phone.

At that moment, a soldier, trembling with fear, came in with a stack of documents, handing them to a man wearing glasses who looked to be a sort of military advisor.

The man flipped through the files rapidly, his complexion growing grimmer by the second as if he had just seen the end of the world.

All the people we were in cahoots with have been assassinated by some unknown person,” he said, slamming the documents on the table before rushing up to Baka.

“What do you mean ‘all of them have been killed’?

Just who is it?” Baka held his head in his hands.

In the past few days, it wasn’t just his own power structure that had been hit; those he had deals with, like Han Ni just now, had all received devastating blows with unprecedented speed and scale.

Even for someone as battle-hardened as himself, it was an unforeseen disaster.

The room erupted with whispers as those present mostly understood the recent events from their conversation.

The situation was less shocking and more ominous.

Baka’s mercenary group was the largest in the region with nearly ten thousand members, equipped with imported advanced weaponry.

They even controlled the governments of several nearby small countries, essentially ruling as a warlord.

Aside from that, several vassal mercenary groups submitted to Baka.

Yet such a vast force had been reduced to a floundering mess in a matter of days.

Suddenly, the room’s lights went off abruptly, as if there was a power failure.

The base had its own independent power supply, so a blackout should be impossible unless there was an intrusion.

That thought tightened the room’s atmosphere with everyone’s hearts hanging in the air, guns drawn, rounds chambered, ready for lurking enemies.

“It is I.” Suddenly, a voice echoed down from above, chilling like the whisper of a demon from the netherworld.

People pointed their guns upward, scanning the darkness with the beam of their flashlights, but no matter how hard they searched, they couldn’t find anyone.

Baka grew anxious; this was no auditory hallucination.

Too many people were witnessing it, and a hand involuntarily moved towards his own holster.

At that moment, dozens of bullets suddenly shot through the walls from outside, piercing the concrete and striking those inside.

The bullets did not miss.

The sound of gunfire brought an air of despair from those who recognized military hardware; it was the sound of a Barrett, the famous anti-materiel sniper rifle, capable of penetrating armor.

And now, these bullets hitting human flesh were resulting in massacre.

Some individuals had entire limbs blown off by the large-caliber bullets’ devastating power.

The room descended into chaos, individuals scrambling towards exits only to be met with even intenser gunfire, making escape impossible.

Within moments, the room was filled with gunfire, screams, and shrieks…

A minute later, the gunfire stopped, as did all other sounds in the room.

The lights overhead fiercely brightened, illuminating the entire space.

Baka, his hands shaking, saw the scene before him: Everyone in the room, apart from himself, lay in pools of blood, with most bodies dismembered, limbs missing, inducing cold shudders.

Baka pulled out his handgun, so scared he forgot to chamber a round.

At that moment, a young man slowly walked in, clad in a black cloak, the hood concealing his face, followed by two others dressed in black.

Baka aimed his gun at them but looked pale as if he lacked even the strength to shoot.

“Who…who are you?” Baka inhaled deeply, steadied himself, and although he didn’t know who this individual was, he knew that his life was as good as taken by this person.

“Netherworld King.” The man in black lowered his hood, revealing a sharply contoured, handsome face.

It was none other than Ye Shikai.

“Main God, Netherworld King,” Baka murmured, his face ashen, his body going limp as he collapsed to his knees.

He had, of course, heard of the Main God’s reputation.

His own force was no small matter, but compared to the Main God, it was like an egg striking a rock.

He had never involved himself with the Main God, so why had he suffered calamity at the hands of the Netherworld King?

“Netherworld King, I have never offended you.”

“Do you remember, Dragon Teeth Special Forces?” Ye Shikai spoke measuredly.
