“You seem very nervous, is there something bothering you?” Su Qingyu asked, noticing Ye Shikai occasionally taking deep breaths out of curiosity.
“Ah, no, it’s just because of the wedding,” Ye Shikai quickly explained, “It’s my first wedding.”
“From what you’re saying, are you thinking of getting married a few more times?” Su Qingyu turned her head quietly towards Ye Shikai after hearing this, her smile concealing a hint of chill in her eyes.
“No, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely didn’t mean that,” Ye Shikai urgently clarified.
“Pfft, seems like you really are nervous,” Su Qingyu laughed and then gently rested her head on Ye Shikai’s shoulder. When the clock reached ten, the external bell finally rang.
“Boss, sister-in-law, let’s head out now,” the caller was naturally Soul Destroyer leading the wedding convoy. Ye Shikai and Su Qingyu exchanged a knowing smile, holding hands, they climbed into the black sedan in the middle, Ghost opened the car door to escort the two.
“Qingyu, we’ll arrive soon,” Ye Shikai whispered into Su Qingyu’s ear, his large hand tightly holding her slender one, the corners of their mouths slightly raised, displaying their happiest smiles.
“Boss, sister-in-law, just one more road to cross, we will be there shortly, just wait a bit.”
When Soul Destroyer looked back at the road, the smile gradually faded from his face. The road they were passing through was chaotic, with a market nearby, making the convoy more susceptible to an attack by an assassin. Although these cars appeared ordinary externally, their frames and glass were made from special materials that were bulletproof and capable of resisting explosions and fire. Yet, Soul Destroyer still dared not relax.
“Everyone pay attention, we are passing through the street corner now, Hidden Guards keep an eye on the surroundings,” Ghost sat in the command vehicle constantly monitoring various surveillance feeds, with Worm sitting beside him, continually fortifying the firewall to prevent hacking of the surveillance.
Suddenly, Soul Destroyer forcefully stopped the vehicle, to be precise, the entire convoy halted.
“What’s up ahead?” Su Qingyu asked curiously, Ye Shikai felt an ominous premonition, instinctively stretching out his hand to protect Su Qingyu behind him. With bustling traffic and pedestrians everywhere, though unaware of the specifics, he knew they had to respond unflappably to whatever came, staying calm was crucial.
“It’s nothing, just wait a moment,” Ye Shikai softly reassured.
“Ghost, don’t get out of the car, Hidden Guards, go and check what’s happening.” Ghost’s heart tightened; the surveillance showed a blue sedan parked upfront with its hazard lights flashing incessantly.
“Car 4, Car 5, three Hidden Guards, go check the situation upfront, and everyone else stay put,” Ghost immediately commanded. Three men got out from the convoy and checked the situation.
“Vehicle ahead has a breakdown, the convoy will pass from the side road, Hidden Guards be mindful, don’t let the blue sedan get too close to the lead vehicle,” after hearing the Hidden Guards’ report, Ghost immediately ordered. This place was a traffic hub, and with a long and extensive wedding convoy, a forced stop would surely cause congestion. In such situations, it’s even more hazardous if an assassin strikes, thus, they needed to pass quickly. However, the timing of this car breakdown seemed too coincidental.
“Short-Nosed Crocodile, Wild Wolf, get out and keep a close watch on that driver’s actions,” Ghost, still feeling uneasy, dispatched two of Netherworld Palace’s commanders.
“Boss, sister-in-law, please be a bit careful; we’re moving now,” Soul Destroyer gave Ye Shikai a subtle look.
“Qingyu, there’s just a minor incident upfront, no worries,” Ye Shikai reassured softly, pulling Su Qingyu into his embrace.
Ghost intently watched the monitors, several Netherworld Palace Hidden Guards formed a buffer separating the convoy and the blue sedan. Despite this, Ghost’s heart couldn’t relax completely. As the lead car passed the blue sedan, Ghost’s heart seemed to stop beating…
“The lead car has passed, the following cars quickly move through,” seeing that everything was safe, Ghost finally eased his tension, the matter coming to a close as the last car went through.
“Boss, sister-in-law, we’ve arrived,” Soul Destroyer parked the vehicle steadily in the designated spot; the couple hand-in-hand walked out, followed by a group of Netherworld Palace guards escorting them into the hotel, no anomalies observed.
“Outer Hidden Guards, start tightening up, responsible for the hotel’s surroundings, temporarily, Jeddon will handle the inside of the hall. Soul Destroyer, Demoness, Nightmare, Illusion Fox, keep your eyes on Boss and sister-in-law at all times.”
Ghost took off his earpiece, patted the driver’s shoulder, instructing him to head straight to the hotel. He had reviewed the design of the hall, aside from the entrance there were no other exits, and it was structured with reinforced concrete, incredibly solid like a fortress. The only remaining task was to check the guests.
“Sir, there’s trouble, someone is attacking our network, seemingly attempting to sabotage the monitor data,” at that moment, Worm’s voice arose from behind, prompting Ghost to swiftly sit down next to the computer.
“What’s the situation, has the firewall been breached?”
“They are infiltrating very quickly, I’ve set up four layers of firewall, and they’ve already broken through one, and are about to break through the second,” Worm rapidly typed on the keyboard, eyes glued to the screen.
