Their seats were down on the floor, right in front of the ring: the most expensive and the most exclusive. Ryu explained her the simple rules of sumo: first to fall out of the ring or touch the ground with any part of his body other than the soles of his feet would lose.
"I already knew that information, Mr. Ryu Ken. I have watched a match on television before, just so you know." She said, smiling sarcastically.
Ryu just laughed, then turned to watch the current fight. There’s already a fight on the ring when they entered.
Meanwhile, Arya turned her head to Ryu instead. He was holding her hand from the time they took off from the train till now.
She tried to drop a joke at him and said, "Why don’t you accompany me inside the girl’s restroom later too since you are like a sticky glue on my hand?" Ryu just ignored her comments and acted more loving and caring.
Arya sighed deeply and just stared at Ryu lovingly.
"I know it’s better to watch this handsome and sexy boyfriend of yours than those blubber men fighting on the ring." Ryu suddenly murmured as he noticed that Arya was staring at him for quite some time now, instead of watching the sumo wrestlers.
"You are such a big-headed guy, aren’t you?" She murmured as she turned her head to the sumo wrestlers while pouting her lips.
"Ohhh..." Arya gasped in daze together with the crowd when a wrestler fell out of the ring in just seconds. "That was fast," she murmured.
Ryu couldn’t help and whisper to her ear, "But not as fast as Ryu Ken right?" He raised and rubbed their clasping hand to his cheek then kissed her hand. Arya just made a face at him, and Ryu laughed.
Then, a man entered the ring and announced the names of the next two wrestlers. Those sumo wrestlers entered the ring, looked each other in the eye, then turned to their corners of the ring and squatted. They both raised one leg, and then slammed it back down on the ground, followed by the other leg. They were intimidating each other.
"Wow! That was impressive!" Arya exclaimed with wide eyes. It was like an enacted pre-competition ritual when new wrestlers stepped into the ring.
Ryu smiled as he looked at her. Arya was so cute in his eyes, and he just loved how she was openly expressing herself.
That time the match went long, generating huge waves of excitement, as they watched two wrestlers attempt to push each other over.
"Bouts can be won or lost in a matter of seconds, although some matches go in for a minute or more like this," Ryu commented. Arya just nodded, with her eyes still fixed on the current fight.
"Ohhhhh..." Another reaction was heard from Arya and the crowd.
Ryu laughed silently when he watched different expressions plastering Arya’s face while she intently watched the current fight. She was even biting her nails? Ryu shook his head. His girlfriend was definitely extraordinary.
The crowd was funny, with everyone shouting out and even laughing when the sumo wrestlers got pushed out in each match. There were some obvious favorites among the sumo wrestlers because when they all came onto the ring at the end of their time slot, some people were cheered a lot more than others.
After about an hour and a half of watching, Ryu suddenly whispered to her ear, "Let’s get out now. This is no fun anymore. It’s just two, fat, sweaty guys fighting all over again. Let’s go and explore more places."
Arya laughed at his comments. It was actually quite a funny cultural experience, but she agreed with Ryu to leave because she thought that watching sumo for an hour or two was already enough.
They had a tourist guide, who assisted them the whole day.
Ryu wanted to take a picture of them together, but Arya strongly refused, telling that she hated taking pictures as they usually spoil the tour by consuming extra time.
But in reality, it was the first thing Kay warned her to be cautious about. They didn’t want Ryu to have a photo with her, because it would only make things difficult for her and she would not be able to hide from him afterward.
Her consistent refusals made Ryu snappy. He was frowning most of the time. He even tried to take secret photos of her, but they ended up being blurry or just a side or back views.
Arya laughed and just appeased him by being extra sweet. This time she initiated the holding of hands the entire time. She cuddled him every now and then as they walked. She even gave him unexpected kisses just to divert his attention.
Ryu seemed to be pleased by it and did not insist on taking a picture together anymore.
