"I am going to check and discuss something with the guys. You can rest here for a while," said Ryu. Arya just nodded with a smile as a response.
Arya called her mom, as soon as Ryu left her in the master suite.
She told her that she was once again on a work trip, out of town as Ryu had suggested. If she told her mother that she was with her boyfriend, it would have only made things more complicated.
"Dear, make sure you take care of yourself and don’t be too hard on yourself." She heard her mom’s words, followed by a sudden silence.
"Mom, are you still there? I am fine, okay? My work is not exhausting at all. I just walk and make a pose at the stage. I also got to wear a designer’s clothes." She said with a cheerful tone. Then, she heard a long deep sigh from her mother.
"I am really sorry, dear. This mother of yours is not capable enough. I can’t even be of any help to you and our family. I am so useless." Her mom said with a depressed tone. Her voice sounded very heavy-hearted.
Arya quickly said, "Stop talking nonsense, Mom. All that you do for us is indispensable. It is hard to take good care of us, me, dad and especially Reese. You are the one who is always with Reese and we both know how tough it is."
She didn’t know how her mom could stand it, seeing her daughter’s pain and her kidney fits every now and then.
She herself had seen it once but she couldn’t bear it, so she left her mom with Reese while she sobbed outside of the ward, on the waiting chair. She couldn’t bear to see her sister crying whenever the pain attacked her, her vomiting with medications, and insertions of needles in her delicate skin.
Her mom had to witness and bore all that while staying beside her sister.
’How hard was it for mom to see her own child in that state?’ That question was always in her mind whenever she saw her mom with Reese.
Her mom was always alone during the crucial times with Reese and she carried the entire burden by herself, trying to stay strong.
"I am so grateful that you are our mother, Mom. I am so proud of you, so do not ever think about yourself as incapable. Otherwise, I will be very hurt, okay? I have to go now. I love you very much, Mom." She said smiling, with her tone full of gratitude.
"I love you too, dear. Always take care of yourself, and most importantly, don’t skip meals." Her mom said before Arya hung up the phone.
She was startled when she felt strong arms on her waist from behind. She was sure it was Ryu, because of his familiar scent.
"You are too sweet to your Mom. What a filial daughter. Can you be like that to me too and be a filial girlfriend, will you?" Ryu murmured while he was burying his nose on her neck.
"Are you eavesdropping? Hey, stop what you are doing right now, it tickles." Arya asked and complained.
"But I want you to speak to me like that. You are very soft, sweet, appreciative and so encouraging. Also, I want to hear those words from you." Ryu muttered like a child throwing tantrums.
"But you are not my mom," Arya said to tease him.
"Ouch!" Arya cried out. Ryu suddenly bit her neck.
Ryu laughed hard and said, "There, that’s your punishment for neglecting me."
"What are you, a frustrated vampire?" Arya exclaimed as she quickly turned around and bit his neck in return.
But to her surprise, Ryu’s eyes looked dangerous at that moment. Those eyes were like a wolf’s that had seen his prey.
She couldn’t even stand his intense gaze so she quickly turned around to walk towards the door and said, "Hmm, I will go down first, to check what we have for dinner. Oh right, I will cook something for you, I am sure you will like it."
But before she could reach the door, Ryu suddenly pulled her towards him and said in a hoarse voice. "Where do you think you are going? Yes, I am hungry right now, but I am not craving for food."
