Arya couldn’t sleep. She had a lot running through her mind.
She grabbed her phone and called her mother to check their situation.
"Mom, how are things there?" She asked plainly.
"All well, dear. Reese will be discharged tomorrow. Rita has already settled everything. When are you coming back? She mentioned about your loan in their company when I asked her how you have managed to pay for everything. I plan to work, dear, once everything is well an..."
Arya interrupted her mom’s words and said, "Let’s talk about it later, Mom. Just focus on Reese right now. Did Rita mention something else?"
She had to be careful with her words since her phone was still wiretapped. Ryu did not have it removed to avoid suspicion from Rita’s side.
"Nothing except that she kept asking if we need anything. Why? Is there something wrong, dear?" Her mom asked with a worried tone.
"Nothing, Mom. it’s just that I can’t contact her today. Anyway, just don’t think too much. I have a great job here so don’t worry, okay? I have to go now. I love you. Kiss Reese for me. Bye." Arya said and hung up the phone.
It was her fifth day already on the island and still no call from Rita. She wasn’t sure if that was a good or a bad thing.
Once more, she felt her head was spinning. Although she wanted to place everything and all her trusts in Ryu, the truth was that she was still playing safe.
Though she was following her heart, for now, her mind was still leveling to jam her feelings.
One thing was very clear with her, there’s nothing or no one who could replace her love for her family.
Her mom, dad, and Reese were very important to her.
Then, she thought about Ryu, he had a very special spot in her heart.
’Arya being wise is the best shot in your current situation.’ Her mind was shouting at her.
’Arya, if you stick with your plan, you will hurt Ryu and I am sure you will also get hurt since you have started falling for him, whether you admit it or not!’ Arya’s heart was shouting at her instead.
It was a battle between her logical thinking and her emotional heart.
There were so many what-ifs to consider...
"Ahhhhh" Arya hissed as she pulled her hair like a crazy person.
The battle between her head and heart was interrupted by the sudden opening of the door.
It was Ryu who she felt laid beside her. Then, his arm was wrapped around her.
"Did you drink? You smell of alcohol." Arya asked.
"Yup, just enough to help me get to sleep. Why are you still awake? Were you waiting for me?" Ryu asked while he buried his face on Arya’s neck.
"My head and heart were in battle, so I can’t sleep yet," Arya said in open.
Ryu chuckled and said, "So, tell me who won in the end?"
Arya’s forehead creased, "There’s no winner yet because it is a tough battle. Even the judge is having a hard time deciding since both are giving their best to win."
"Why doesn’t the judge just declare a truce since it’s hard or let another judge handle it?" Ryu said frowning. He was referring to himself as the other judge.
"And what would be the decision of that other judge?" Arya asked. She was so curious to know what Ryu would do if he was in her position.
"Marry the owner of that head and heart," Ryu said with a serious voice.
Arya froze. She wanted to turn around and face Ryu but she was hesitating.
’What was that? Was he proposing right now? He didn’t believe in marriage, right? So why would he propose marriage?’ She thought silently while her heart started to thump fast and her body began to tense.
’Did I just hear it wrong? Maybe I just heard wrong.’ Arya continued pondering at the back of her mind
There’s just silence. No one uttered a word for a whole minute, it was just pure silence.
Then, she heard Ryu spoke once more, "Arya Tan, let’s get married."
