"Mam, we have a problem." The front office staff said on the other line.
"What happened?" Arya asked with a creased forehead.
"There are people standing right now in the hotel. They are saying that they will take the charge of the beach resort from now on." The front office staff explained with a nervous voice.
With a hesitant voice she continued, "Mam they are with police officers and are looking for you."
"What?" Arya hissed.
"Mam we actually don’t know what to do right now. It seems like the previous Owner had a big debt unpaid and had put this beach resort as collateral then he sold it to you also at the same time. Looks like there’s a fraud. It would be best if you come here quickly." Her staff added.
"How is that possible? I have all the legal documents. Tell them that I will be there and talk to them right away. I’ll be there in ten minutes." Arya said frowning.
"Is there a problem?" Her mom asked.
They were currently having a family dinner at home.
She stayed at one of the hotel rooms at most of the times however, today she went home to join her family for dinner and sleep with Reese.
"I’m not sure yet about the details. I will go back at the hotel right now." She said and quickly finished her food.
"At this hour? It’s past 7:00 already. Can’t that matter wait until tomorrow? Why don’t you let your assistant handle that instead?"
"Jean is on a vacation leave for three days so I better hurry up." She answered.
"Big Sis, I thought you will read me the new book you bought?" Reese said complaining.
Arya laughed and said, "Let me read them to you tomorrow evening and let dad or mom read you another story for now. I have to go"
She kissed the head of her little sister who was sitting beside her before getting up to fetch the documents pertaining to the buying of the beach resort then immediately drove back to the hotel.
Upon arriving at the hotel, she was greeted by an Attorney together with a Police Officer and the Head Chief in the province.
"Hi Ms. Tan. I am Attorney Stark. I am representing the company that owns this beach resort. I would like to discuss some legal matters with you. Please advise where can we discuss it?" A man in his forties spoke to her.
"Let’s talk inside my office. Please Follow me." Arya said as she walked towards her office.
The Attorney explained to her everything and showed her all the necessary documents to prove their claim.
"What are you saying? All the papers that I have are not authentic?" Arya burst out with an arched eyebrow as she glared at the Attorney before her.
"I believe, there are some misunderstandings in here because I clearly went through the legal process in purchasing this Beach Resort."
The head chief police interrupted, "Mam, the couple had been on a wanted list because of their unpaid debt. You’ve been deceived. All the documents that you have are forged."
Then the attorney added, "We have the original and authentic documents of the beach resort so the one with you are clearly false documents."
"Our CEO, as the rightful owner of this beach resort would like to take legal action on the matter. It means you have to go under investigation and a warrant arrest will be released. We have enough evidence with us that you’re aware and particularly participated on the said fraud."
Arya’s face paled upon hearing the last sentence from the Attorney then she felt her temperature boiled up.
"You people will barge in here late at night and show me just some documents and try to prove me to be a fraud? I have my rights! Let me call my attorney!" she burst out in anger. Her face was red with anger and embarrassment.
Then she quickly dialled her attorney to come immediately at the hotel.
After five minutes, her attorney walked inside and said, "I want to see the documents." After checking it all out, her attorney dialled some numbers and excused himself to talk on the phone.
After a while her attorney gestured her to talk in another room.
"Why what’s wrong?" Arya asked her attorney who was sitting solemnly.
"This is not good Arya. I’ve checked the matters and the evidence was solid. It’s just a matter of time for the complainant to file and an arrest warrant will be issued at you if that happens with the evidence they had. We will have a hard time proving your innocence since the couple is out of the country right now. It would be better that we negotiate it with the complainant and come up with an agreement with them." Her Attorney explained in clear words.
Arya sighed. ’What is this?’ The couple did not look like someone who would do such a thing on her. Or was it because she trusted easily? Was this Karma?’ Questions ran through her head silently.’ Then she recalled that the last contact she had with them lasted one week only after the transfer and then she heard nothing about them at all.
Arya with her attorney went back inside her office feeling down.
Her attorney was the one who spoke first, "Is there a way we can negotiate things with your client?"
Attorney Stark coughed and replied, "Miss Arya, you can probably talk about it to our CEO directly and try to negotiate. He is an easy person to approach and if he will hear your words and justifications, he might cancel his complaint and you might not end up being arrested."
Arya frowned and said, "My Attorney will try to negotiate with your CEO."
Attorney Starks smiled and said, "Our CEO specifically mention that he will be open for the possibility of negotiation, only if, the Manager will be the one to talk to him directly."
Then Attorney Stark added, "He actually arrived with me and is staying at one of the rooms here since he wanted to check the beach resort already. He wants a total reconstruction and reorganization including the employees since he will take over the share and asset of this business."
