Ye Wanwan’s cheeks were a bit red, not sure if it was from the coughing fit she just had, or because she was mortified, but anyway she was now allergic to the term "sister."
"Did you, did you want something from me?" Ye Wanwan asked, feigning nonchalance.
"No, just happened to come by the office today, thought I’d look around." Xiusi and the other streamers weren’t required to be in the company for their live streams, they could do it from home just as well.
"Oh." Ye Wanwan responded, indicating that she understood.
"Why did you suddenly go offline last night?" Xiusi made his way to the opposite side of Ye Wanwan’s desk, resting his hands on it and looking down at her from his vantage point.
Thinking of last night’s events, Ye Wanwan’s head buzzed, and her cheeks grew hotter and hotter, as if they were about to catch fire.
She looked at Xiusi with a shifty gaze and it took her a while to say awkwardly, "It was, um, my phone suddenly ran out of battery."
Xiusi wasn’t foolish, and besides, Ye Wanwan’s expression was so obvious, how could he not tell that she wasn’t telling the truth.
However, Xiusi didn’t call her out. He laughed and continued, "That’s alright, I was worried something happened to you since you didn’t reply to my WeChat."
Speaking of WeChat, Ye Wanwan felt even more troubled. Shen Yi had already let her off the hook, but for some unknown reason, as if her brain had malfunctioned, she checked her unread messages on her phone and even played the voice message that Xiusi had sent.
All Xiusi had asked in the voice message was, "Sister, why did you suddenly go offline?"
Yet Shen Yi was once again provoked, holding her down while nibbling her earlobe and whispering by her ear, "Sister, how can you be so fickle? You had just been close with me, and then went off to chat with other ’little brothers.’"
"Are you dissatisfied with me?"
Ye Wanwan felt she was about to go insane.
Why had Shen Yi become ! Where had her always calm and restrained Mr. Shen gone?
Ye Wanwan took a deep breath, struggling to maintain the smile on her face, and explained to Xiusi, "It’s nothing, what could possibly happen to me at home?"
Xiusi nodded, but he didn’t seem to want to leave, as if he still had something to say. Yet as the two of them faced each other, Xiusi found he couldn’t say it.
The eternally single Yu Qiqi snickered teasingly, "Ah Xiu, you came specifically for Wanwan, didn’t you? You haven’t fallen for our Wanwan, have you?"
"Would that be a problem?" Xiusi replied, pretending to be composed, but his eyes darted around, and he dared not even look at Ye Wanwan.
Everyone in the office looked towards Xiusi. He was already nervous, but being stared at made him even more so, and he stuttered, "Wh-why are you all staring at me?"
"Are you serious?" Yu Qiqi looked at Xiusi with an odd expression, somewhat at a loss for words.
Xiusi stood his ground, "Of course, I am serious!"
Yu Qiqi never expected that what was only a careless remark on her part would turn out to be true.
After a long while, Ye Wanwan took the initiative to say, "Xiusi, I’m already married."
"What did you say?" Xiusi looked at Ye Wanwan with a face full of shock, never having expected that the person he liked was already married!
"I said I’m already married." Ye Wanwan smiled, a smile uglier than a cry.
Xiusi was stunned, unable to speak for quite some time.
He rarely spent time at the company, and it was only recently that he had formed some rapport with the few people from the planning department because of playing games.
